Need ability to add to Cross-Sell Collections from multiple stores

I have stores divided basically by product type, but I can't add to a cross-sell collection from more than one store. For instance I have a separate clothing store but can't add matching clothing to my bachelorette collection that exists in my wedding shop. This is really hampering the way I set up my collections and forcing me to use the 'gift' type collection which really isn't correct, it should be cross-sell.

Is there any reason why we can't have the ability to add to this type of collection from more than one store? I'm assuming it's set up this way so that we're more likely to correctly only add products that share the same, or very similar designs and style. We can be trusted to follow that rule without the single-store enforcement.
