Hello,

I am a little confused about using categories and collections. Can anyone please explain me how categories work. Please explain me the points marked in bold:

Categories:

Events & Occasions

Recipient

Store Category

If anyone can share a video, that would be helpful too.

Thanks in advance 🙂

I don't have a video so here is my text explanation:

Events & Occasions, Recipients are filter categories on the Zazzle marketplace (MP). If you go to Zazzle's main page and pick some random thing, let's say greeting cards, one of the options that the customer has is to add a filter. There are many different filters a customer can use. Along with filter by color, store name, brand and other things, they can filter by Event & Occasion or Recipient. When you choose an Event & Occasion and Recipient, you are choosing where in this filter your product will appear. A birthday card is meant to be categorized under Birthday, wrapping paper with children's designs is meant for a Child etc.

If your product is not meant for a specific Event & Occasion, just choose Other. Yes a t shirt would make a fine birthday gift, but if the design doesn't say something about the wearer's age, choose Other.

If your product could be used by anyone, choose Anyone as recipient. The Recipient filter is meant for customers who want a product that is super specific such as a birthday card that says "Happy Birthday Uncle".

Store Category is the categories set up in your own personal store, not in the MP. Customers will see them only if they actually visit your store.

Collections are a way of grouping products that are related for the convenience of the customer. When you make a collection, the companion products will appear in a scroll below the main product on the product page. Collections can also be shared on social media. This link explains more about collections.

Collections

Just putting in my two cents, but if your designing wedding invitation cards, the recipient would be anyone. Perhaps that would be best as it's the most inclusive when describing guests in general.
