Arranging store categories

I cant figure out how to arrange my store's categories. When I view my store homepage it just has my latest designs showing. I want to arrange the homepage by category. How do I do that?

Hi @happypainter I will try to write down the procedure - apologies though if you already know all this!

Firstly, check that you're on your 'Store Management' home page, rather than the public version. On the bottom right of your store banner, it will either say 'Return to Store Management' or 'View Public Storefront'. You need to be on the one which says 'View Public Storefront' but don't click on it - this means you're currently in Store Management.

Click the Products tab, and then, on the left menu, click 'All Categories'. Each category needs to have a thumbnail image, otherwise it won't appear on your home page. To add a thumbnail image, click the relevant category, then click edit and upload your photo.

Another reason for a category not showing up on your public home page is if there are not yet any products in it.

When you've added the photos for your categories, click on the Settings tab and then click Advanced Settings on the left. You should see an orange heading 'Customize Store'. Move 'Categories' from Hidden Sections to Visible Sections, if it isn't there already. You can also opt to 'Show category titles in grid' and/or 'Show categories in Products tab'.

Hopefully your categories should now be visible on your home page 🙂

@happypainter if you're a visual learner (like me) - this is the advanced settings in your store's back end @Marblewave said to go to

drag and drop the Categories from the Hidden Section over to the Visible section and check the boxes just underneath (show categories in products tab) then click Submit to save

Provided your categories have products in them, have a thumbnail, they should appear (if they're new categories- expect it to take about a week for your store front to change - nothing is immediate)
