The green lines that appear show you the vertical and horizontal centers of the artboard. They are very handy. If you want to center a group of objects to each other, select the objects together, then click “align the objects to each other” and choose center.

Hi Everyone! I am wondering about the green line that appears when moving my objects or text around in the templates. Is this line to tell you that what you are moving around will be centered between other objects or text within the template? I wondered if this is a quicker way to center than using shift and aligning to selection. Thanks! Cheryl

If you have multiple items in your design and are moving one of them, the green lines will show when either the top/bottom/side of the moving object aligns with another object.

Thank you both! So, to clarify, it seems to me my thinking was right then?? If so, how much easier it will be for me to design! I'll just move my objects or text and wait for the green line to appear and leave them there. : )

OMG... So... I've been designing here pretty much full time for 5 years now and I have NEVER seen these green lines! I finally went through all the settings and discovered that they only appear if you have "snapping" set on - and for some reason I've never had snapping set on.

Holy Moly! I'm wondering what other helpful features are out there that I've just never stumbled upon.

Hi Cat! I think I've always seen these lines, but never even realized that there was a "snapping" setting! 😁

Speaking from memory, I think you also get RED lines when an element of the design centres with another element, not necessarily centred on the page. Also when aligned with the left side or the right side.

Here's what the AI Chat on Zazzle had to say about the "Snapping Tool:"

The Snapping Tool in the Design Area helps you align multiple images or layers to one another in different configurations. It ensures that elements are evenly spaced and properly aligned within your design.

Cat, I am so glad you mentioned this tool. I would have otherwise not known how to find out more about it.
