What happened when your Zippo didn't get approved?

I submitted two Zippo designs on the evening of 11/8. Yesterday 11/11 they moved out of "Under Review" to just appearing as a regular saved design, they did not go into the Revise & Resubmit tab. I also didn't receive any email with the reason they weren't approved which I'm told you usually get. I'm assuming they didn't get approved but no email and them not moving to the Revise & Resubmit tab does have me wondering if it's just a "glitch".

If you had a Zippo rejected, what happened? Did you get an email with the reason, and did it go to the Revise & Resubmit tab or just back to being a regular saved design?

I have had several Zippo designs accepted and many more rejected..all of the rejected designs just go back into saved designs, never got an email as to why, ever...sometimes I've tried adjusting the design or the tags and trying again...sometimes it fixes it, sometimes not....so who knows?

I always had an e-mail when my zippo lighters were rejected. But the reason invoked were often unclear, I tried once to ask for more information and they answered that I was using an orientation of the design that was forbidden for this kind of design. After checking out the market place I realized that many similar designs approved were using the same orientation, so I really considered this answer as unfair and subjective. Since 2024 I create zippo lighters really rarely because of that. So my last refusals were in 2024, but for sure I had an e-mail each time and the rejected designs never moved from the “Under Review” tab .

I’ve only created one Zippo lighter, which was approved. (However, it’s never sold.) I remember reading the instructions for designing on the lighter that said something indirectly that made me think the reason for the approval process was to ensure the designs applied to the lighters wouldn’t appeal to children for safety reasons. I remember thinking that was more implied than directly stated.

Of course, that could all be figment of my imagination. Just sharing my thoughts.

Me too. My design was too political for Zippo.

My guess is that you can still use that design on other items. Just not Zippo (do not bother revising).

I got an email yesterday from the "Content Management Team" and in it they apologized for my not getting the message before .. So, thank you to whichever of you Mods saw my post and passed it on to the appropriate department. 👍

And for anyone curious - from what I can deduce from the email , without it explicitly being said in it, it that it wasn't the design itself but rather the poor choice of template text. So my bad. Will choose different monogram letters and re-submit.
