Connie’s post about Pinterest and our Zazzle landing pages got me looking at my own links, and I noticed something that doesn’t seem quite right.

When I’m signed in and viewing my public product page, I see my design but directly above it is a full row of other designers’ products. Then, directly below my product, there’s another row of other designers’ items under the heading “Other designs you may like.” My own coordinating collection doesn’t appear until after all of that.

If a customer clicked because they liked my design, it seems logical that the next thing they should see would be the product description and my related collection items. Instead, the layout places other designers’ work above the creator’s own collection.

From a design and user‑experience standpoint, this really does feel like a flaw. The layout sends the customer away from the product they came to see by showing them rows of “other designs you may like” > created by other designers < both above and below my own product listing. That means the shopper has no chance to read the description that is at the bottom of the page or see the matching items that actually go with my design before they’re redirected to someone else’s work.

It would make more sense and create a better experience for both the shopper and the creator who brought in the traffic to show the creator’s products, description, and coordinating collection items first, and move the “other designers” section farther down the page.

Right now, the layout works against both the customer and the creator’s efforts to promote their work. It may even be contributing to the drop in sales many creators are seeing.

That’s why I’m asking: Can we fix this.

I just got an idea, gleaned from etsy ads, of putting the product description in one of the image slides, people will click through images before they will scroll down. Some extra work but worth a try.
