The most popular platform to build a website is Wordpress, but at a webhost, not through wordpress.com. My site is built from scratch

I'm not sure about popularity. I use Wordpress with hosting by SiteGround mainly because it's what I'm most comfortable with and it seems to give me the most control over things. I'm old so I built my first websites by manually typing out the code, so I'm always impressed at how easy it is to set up websites these days with all the different template options out there.
