Collection Question - Best Practice?

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out a conundrum I have.

I have one collection with Puppies that has grown rather large. It consists of about 26 different dog breeds and includes items from a number of different product areas.

Currently, I have it sorted with each dog in alphabetical order with each of the products for each dog. When I add new products to the collection I have to drag the new item from the bottom and place them in the appropriate part of the collection for each dog. This is beginning to get hard to manage.

I am currently making a collection of party supplies, so I thought I would split out the puppy collection in to new collections by product categories and make one for Party Supplies with the Puppy theme.

My question is, should I continue down this path, or would it be better to make a collection for each dog bread instead?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

In my opinion, collections by breed would be easier to maintain. It would mean that order (of product) is not so important. Also, the customer looking for a specific breed will not have to page through those they are not interested in.
