by jove! It does copy/paste a screenshot without having to upload (for those wondering - it's saved directly into Your Images with the title image.png)

Just tried the copy/paste text too. Nice! Another hint don't forget to press shift if you need to resize the text box so the text template reaches to where you need it to.

Should be fun for Content Review team 😂

I was confused at first, because apparently this feature only works by using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. For text at least, it doesn't work using the "edit" button's copy and paste, or right-clicking and selecting Paste.

Hi James, I can’t access any clipboard content from my iPad, so I’m very deceived by this new feature. As a reminder, many graphical designers who can’t afford to buy a graphics tablet for computer, work on an iPad ( as I do) to create their artwork. So it’s very sad they don’t seem to be important to Zazzle teams, your latest features being unavailable to them… 😢

Love the idea of this new feature but it seems not to be working quite the way we need it to yet. The new copy and paste is not giving us transparent backgrounds on our images. The example on the left shows what the image looks like when uploaded while the one on the right used the new Ctrl+V option. So for now, quess it's back to uploading....sigh

I haven't played around with this yet, but in your above example, what did you Ctrl+C on to copy??

I opened my file in photoshop and selected the whole layer that contained the image ... which didn't have a background but when I pasted it to Z, It showed up with the white background. So I tried again and, for the example shown, I selected only the image itself in photoshop not the complete layer just to see if that made any difference....nope. Since that didn't work, I did try just right-clicking my png file and voila! Success! I always try to make things as complicated as possible..lol.

Thank you, I was maybe not very clear in my post, but the problem is not that I can’t access the clipboard, I know perfectly well how to use it. But the content of the global clipboard that I have copied outside of Zazzle is not available for pasting when I am inside the Zazzle designer. So it’s just that I can’t access it (I.e. it’s not made available) from the Zazzle designer. It only allows me to copy something inside Zazzle, (where I suppose there’s an internal clipboard), for pasting inside Zazzle as before this new feature.

It was also one of my concerns when I saw this new feature. Quite afraid about it too. But I thought that maybe, they allowed to access the global clipboard for pasting from outside but not for copying from inside Zazzle and then not making the content available outside. (I can’t test anyway, because I’m on iPad)

I also add that without keyboard I don’t have any access to Ctrl+C Ctrl+V, it seems that a lot of this new behavior is linked to keys, so to make it available for iPad, it could be just a matter of proposing an (new) alternative way of doing this on ipad , without removing the previous one which was managing the internal copy/paste inside zazzle.

I've been wondering about how I might use copy/paste other than the internal way of copying one layer into another. Likely, my puzzlement has something to do with my way of designing: create image, upload it, use the image in one or more products, add text templates. Surely, the process doesn't include copying images from the internet, does it?

I think it’s a productivity tool to avoid all the steps needed when you export your image from the tool in which you created it and then upload it into your Zazzle account. You could then just copy it directly in your creation tool and simply paste it in your Zazzle designer. ( not necessarily linked to images from internet )

This is just a screenshot copied to clipboard - not saved anywhere first- and pasted directly into Design Tool. And as @Sara_H said, the image goes straight to your My Images folder. Convenient, but honestly don't know what this nifty little trick would be good for.

And here is using my browsers right-click/copy image to paste one of Zazzle's banners into the Design Tool.

This, I can see being used if say, you have images in the cloud. Instead of downloading and uploading, just copy/paste. Assuming the images are being copied/pasted at original size/res. Don't know. Will have to try that with some of my own images to see.

Cool use of it, @ColsCreations . Thumbs up on it.

Just now I tried it on various web sites and could not copy and paste anything at all. Given that we've always had copy/paste internally, I'm now wondering how Zazzle is envisioning this. James must have left something out in his description. Alternatively, something is currently left out in my brain, which is a distinct possibility.

@Barbara if you are on a windows machine - create a partial screenshot pressing the keys "window icon shift s" then draw a rectangle around what you want to copy - that will save a snippit to your computer's clipboard. Without doing anything else go to the design tool with a design already open - then ctrl v - that will paste it in.

The expected advantages are described in the initial feature publication:

« Here’s what you can do:

✅Paste Screenshots: Captured something on your screen? Just paste it directly into your design—no need to save it as a file first.

☑️Add Images Instantly: Skip the upload process, use CTRL C + CTRL V to copy and paste images directly! No need to visit the uploads tab

✅Add Text instantly: Copy text and paste them right where you need them. No need to click on the text tab then “add text” button in the design tool first, saving you 2 extra clicks! »

What I understand is that the clipboard they talk about is your system clipboard, not related to your browser. It means that you can for example go in a word document, copy something and paste it in your browser in Zazzle, it will directly create a text on your design. You can also go in Fresco, Photoshop, Procreate or any tool you use to create your design, even if this one is not saved you can copy it, then come in Zazzle and paste it in your current creation, it will not only paste it in the editor, but also add it in your uploads.

@Sara_H You supplied the missing link! I never use Window's screenshot tool, so I didn't think about it. This tells me the reason I was failing.

@Fantabuloustef Thank you. You answered my question about text. I figured it must be different from what I already do: copy text from Notepad (preferred because it's plain text) and paste it into a text box. I used the method when doing a whole collection of nursery rhymes. So that part of the announcement is more a reminder of an already existing ability.

I probably won't use the screenshot ability, given I prefer sprucing things up in Photoshop first, but you never know.
