Oh I'm not sure what you mean. With this new design tool I've always had to "slide" the top of the toolbar to the left in order to see everything in the row on the right-hand side, and then I click on the headings like Effects, Selling Option, etc. to see what's inside of there.

I also noticed earlier today that I now have added to the top of toolbar an Eraser option next to Background remover. I'm not sure what the eraser does I tried it and it whited out an area and on the preview it's white in that area... haven't had time to play around with it more.

I have a Samsung tablet and smartphone.

Noticed earlier today that I didn't have to hunt down the decrease/increase sizing option under Alignment anymore! It now has it's own place - + (smaller/larger) at the top of toolbar, where it should have been by itself via this new design tool. So much better! Thanks

Yes, that is nice, but the -+ pushed the "selling option" off the page and I have to click on the arrow to see selling option to make text a template, so for me gained a click, then added a click?

Hi...before the addition of -+ I could see all the "tabs" on the top, now I lost the "selling option" tab and have to fit the arrow like you said. The eraser tool is good, if you upload say a stock logo and it has some stars around it you don't want you can erase just the stars, useful addition...

@CLC

I do like the clean look of the new design tool. At first it drove me crazy and I didn't know where to begin with it, because so many things were, and still are hidden, and forget about the tiny icons with no words! Then very slowly I said ok, let me look at this convoluted thing again, and again.. and then started making new designs once again within the new design tool. But it still takes longer than it did with the old design tool, especially complex designs utilizing the design tool to make the designs say with a lot of element shapes, etc.

Would also prefer to see all the tab heading things on the top row at a glance, instead of having to slide everything to the left, just to see what's on the unknown right-handed side - that I cannot see via my screens via both of my Samsung tablet and smartphone devices.

I'm glad they separated the - + to be by itself because that comes in handy a lot of times.

But still don't care for the Selling Options tab as it doesn't make much sense, and is a bit of a pain clicking on it to make a template, etc.

And like many other's have also said there's still a lot of extra clicking to try and find something hidden, and to try and get something done without wasting too much time on it. It was quicker before via the old design tool. Seems they're listening to some suggestions and making some changes to this new design tool, but with the old design tool mostly everything was basically in plain view to quickly select.

Thanks for the eraser info. I figured it was to remove something. But when I tried going over a small area of one of my previous designs earlier today to check it out and the area turned white, and then I clicked preview it stayed white from the eraser via the preview, instead of making it disappear. I just tried using the new eraser tool again and this time it DID make the area I erased disappear from my image like you mentioned! Maybe I had a glitch earlier today.

I must say, when I first saw this new Eraser tool today and saw it said adjust "paintbrush" size I said, "Oohhhh, it would be great if I could use my Stylus Pen right here in the new design tool and draw away!" 🙂 Maybe that's coming next! I'd like that.

....If you click on the remove background tool first it will get rid of the white background or any background (be careful though sometimes it removes part of your artwork), then the background will be transparent when you erase. I'm with you the new design tool is ok, it's super slow but I can manage. When it first came out I did very simple products, then moved on to harder products and learned as I went so it was not to frustrating

The dedicated area for decrease/increase option is great . But I really miss the option to us CTRL with + or – to make an image slightly larger or smaller. The other day I spent a good half hour shrinking, then re-aligning, then slightly enlarging, then re-aligning, etc. Please bring that option back.

Also, if you want us to be sure our editable text fields are OK, bring back the way for us to see our Field Titles, URL Fields, and the text we entered instead of having to locate & check “Selling Options” for each text field.

OR make that something we can see and check on the ‘One last step before selling” screen. Shouldn’t that screen show what a buyer will see?

it is totally redundant to have the + and - resizing options there and the + and - there for text IMO. When you click on a text object the + and - appear in the text button area. My suggestion: just keep the + and - button there independently and allow it to work with whatever design element you have selected. If you have text selected it should work for that. If you have a design element / a graphic selected it could work for that.

This would leave room for the Selling Options back in view without having to click an arrow to bring it into view... problem solved 🙂

It seems depending on the devices or computers used, maybe people are seeing the Top Toolbar in different views (of the options tabs that are visible on that toolbar row) via the Design Editor?

Like I've mentioned, since this New Design Tool I cannot see all of the tabs at the Top of the Toolbar without "sliding" everything over to the left to see what's "hidden" on the right-hand side, like it seems some others have said they can see everything listed there at the top row without having to do any of that. And some other's have said they now can no longer see the Selling Options tab without using the arrow or sliding the row over to the left, since the - and + sizing adjustment option tab was added at the top toolbar (which I like that this adjustment option was added on the top toolbar by itself, instead of being "hidden" under the Alignment tab like it was before).

- The example image below of one of my designs is the view I've been seeing (ever since we got this new design layout) of the Top of the Toolbar when I open up my Samsung z fold smartphone to have a "larger" screen inside and use my stylus pen. I have to "slide" everything to the left, or you can use the arrow, in order to see what other options tabs are "hidden" in that row on the right-hand side. I can only see up to the Text Align on the right-hand side:

Also, when I'm using my Samsung tablet (which is a larger screen than when I have my smartphone opened) I still have to "slide" the Top Toolbar over to the left to see the rest of the "hidden" options tabs on the right-hand side of the row, as my Tablet view only shows up to the Trash Can on the right-hand side.

Yes, I've said all along since this "new" design tool came about that the "old" design tool was more user-friendly - because you could see basically every option needed right there on one page (without having to search all over for something).

This new design tool is a cleaner look, and they've still been making some changes to it, so maybe they'll figure out a way to tweak it a bit more to make everything more readily accessible and more user-friendly within the Design Tool Editor.

NOTE: Can a Mod please look further into all of the issues being brought up regarding the New Design Tool Layout Editor; and also to all of the "other" issues via the Forums topics relating to "so many other unfavorable changes" being made to this site again lately, as many designers have commented about them?

Thank you

I am on a large desktop, and even I have to click or scroll over to access the 'Effects' and 'Selling' which are both frequently needed. I still stand by all of my original comments on the new design tool. There are too many extra steps to access tools that you need constantly. It's not a matter of 'getting used to it'. Trying to edit fonts with stroke is a colossal pain in the but having to click into two different areas over and over. Trying to change SVG's is also a pain. Click on the item, click on the color dot, scroll, choose color. Click on another SVG and repeat. And I cannot believe the color picker is still covering half the artboard.

I was just about to say the same thing 🙂 They are making some good changes.

As I mentioned in above post, I didn't notice it until last week, but before that had read of some people saying they had this New Eraser Tool and I didn't know what they were talking about and I hadn't seen it yet after checking back then, so maybe not everyone had it at the same time, who knows.

Agree! Still so much back-and-forth to do some things, and still too many clicks and hidden features. And yes the color palette has been driving me crazy too lately by covering up my screen where I have to now turn my tablet sideways just to make a selection or to see Additional Colors too. Never had to do that before.

At 1920, my viewable browser window is 1855 because I have my Windows taskbar docked to the left side.
At 100% browser zoom level w/ window maximized at its full 1855 width, when I have an image element selected I have plenty of space even after the full length of the toolbar shows.

As I start decreasing the window size (by just dragging the edge to make it smaller) the toolbar doesn't "break" until I hit 1270, that's the point where the Selling Options label begins getting cut-off and the arrow appears.
At 1169, the text label completely disappears but there is still a faint gray area between the arrow and the divider on the left and you can still click anywhere in that area to open the Selling Options panel. So it still requires just one-click to access the Selling Options. It's not until 1148 that I have to click the arrow first to make Selling Options appear and then click that.
Summary: I'd have to be working with my window reduced to 1148 or smaller for it to require an extra click to access Selling Options for an image.

If I instead have a text element selected, where the toolbar is longer because it has more options on it, It's still not cut off at full window size of 1855.

I have to reduce to 1630 before the text label starts getting cut off. At 1529 the label is completely gone but as above, I can still click in the gray area to access Selling Options with just one click. It's not until 1487 that I have to click the arrow first to make Selling Options appear and then click that. I have to go all the way down to 1364 for the Effects option to also disappear.
Summary: I'd have to be working with my window reduced to 1487 or smaller for it to require an extra click to access Selling Options for a text element.

Web design is HARD. Even using responsive design methods, it's virtually impossible to make things ideal for every possible user situation. There's not just cross-browser compatibility to worry about anymore, we've now got all manner of devices in Android or IOS, Landscape or Portrait view flipping, mobile or desktop version, tablet, phone, desktop, laptop, external monitors .. and each has its native resolution and what the user might change, plus browser zoom level, plus whether window is full-size or reduced because one might have multiple windows open at same time, plus browser or system toolbars decreasing the available space ....

For me, at my particular specs, I have no issues with the toolbar being cut-off and requiring extra clicks. If it's cut-off for you (used in general sense, not flagging you @jophb specifically), make sure your window is maximized and check your zoom level. For the forums I need my browser zoom at 133% because otherwise the text is TINY, but then I have to remember to set it back to normal 100% when I am in the design editor.

Posting this as a real-life use-case for the Techs and also as a suggestion to other Designers to check your own settings to see if there's anything on your end you can adjust, such as window size or zoom level, to make things better for you.

Also, want to give a shout-out to the Techs. We know your job is not easy trying to account for the infinite variables on the User end, finding a workable middle--ground is understandably difficult.

P.S.:
The black bars showing my viewport dimensions are not something I added to the images, it's a browser Add-On I have on Firefox.
