3rd party sale AND 40% deduction on my OWN product

WHY?  So I am being charged for buying my own product as a 3rd party sale - I did not click any links - I went to the product page on my own link  - there should not be a marketing fee .. what gives? EDIT - And No, I did not have a previous cookie, on ANY device - I was absolutely sure of that - this should have been a ‘none’ sale ..

Something isn’t right with the new system. I designed wedding invitations, paper plates, and more for my daughters wedding. I bet you could guess it…I got dinged a marketing fee and they were third party sales.  I guess instead of posting designs for sale and setting them as hidden or direct only that I should have just designed them and purchased from my saved designs. Don’t know if it would help doing it that way or if you still get ran over with fees on your own personal designs.

Well Clearly - it explains A LOT

If you were doing market research on Zazzle (looking at popular products in your niche) within the last 14 days, then the designer of that product gets a cut of your royalties. I should NOT happen, but it does.

Next time, try sending a link to someone (like your daughter), who did not click on any other Zazzle links, and purchase your products that way (and provide the payment info - if you’re sending the link to a trusted source).

you mean just by literally scrolling, looking, or are you saying seeing something in google and clicking on a zazzle link? any way you look at it.. if you clear all cookies in your browser.. nothing should be in there.. correct?

I meant clicking on someone else’s product. I tried to edit my post, but I was too late.

The cookies Zazzle uses last for 14 days, and clearing your browser doesn’t seem to work any more.

Seriously? now that’s a problem..

I did a quick search.. this is what I got :

No, a website cannot override the deletion of cookies initiated from your browser’s settings. When you clear cookies for a specific site, you are instructing your browser to delete those files, and the website’s code running in your browser cannot prevent this action. However, a website can create and set new cookies immediately after you have deleted them, effectively re-storing their information during the same session.

How websites can re-establish cookies

  • Immediate re-creation:  A website can set cookies as soon as you visit it again. This means that even though your browser deleted the old ones, new ones are created from scratch.
  • Server-side sessions:  Deleting cookies from your browser doesn’t remove your session information from the website’s servers. The session data may still exist, and the website can simply issue a new cookie to re-link your session to your browser.
  • Other tracking methods:  Websites can use other tracking methods besides cookies, such as IP addresses or browser fingerprinting, which are not affected by clearing your cookies.

How to manage cookies

  • Clear through browser settings:  You can clear cookies for a specific website through your browser’s settings, as shown in
Google’s Help Center or Microsoft Edge documentation.
  • Use an “Incognito” or “Private Browsing” mode:  This type of mode prevents cookies from being stored persistently after you close the window.
  • Adjust site-specific settings:  Some browsers allow you to set exceptions for certain websites, which can be used to manage cookies more granularly.
  • Use browser extensions:  A variety of browser extensions are available to help manage cookies and other tracking technologies.

Dear Deb,

This is so disheartening to hear. Zazzle is fast becoming so disappointing, where are their moral and ethics? Personally i would advise you to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I truly hope this is an awful technical error and the moderators reply immediately!

There should be some sort of override on cookies when we’re buying our own products. Clearly we aren’t influenced by outside marketing forces, we’re already here!

Sorry this happened. It shouldn’t.
