Part of my 5.5" x 8.5" Bridal shower games are sold out and showing “Sorry, this product has been discontinued”.
The paper type has automatically changed to Satin, and all the games are sold out now. I spent hours adjusting the paper type back to matte yesterday and now I woke up and all the games I adjusted are SOLD OUT again and the paper type has changed back to Satin. When I go to “Edit design” it shows “Matte” but the product page does not update. It is still sold out. The customer may think that the product is sold out if he/she doesn’t change the paper type.
I would appreciate it if someone could look into it! Thank you
Here are some links:
When you click on the product it adds “media=textsatin” to the link. If you use the link with the product number at the end it shows the product with the correct changes. Hope that helps!
I have loads of wedding programs, menus, invitations and games affected by this too. I had defaulted many of my programs and menus to the linen option and these ones are now mostly all showing as discontinued on the product pages. I tried to change these to one of the two remaining available paper types via Edit and, as it wouldn’t allow me to do this, I’m using the “replace feature” in order to update the paper type so they will no longer show as discontinued. As I’ve been going through them, I discovered that others of mine seem to have changed automatically from the linen paper to the semi-gloss so are still showing available and not as discontinued. Perhaps this is something that is still updating in the system. I hope so as it’ll take me sometime to update them all manually.
I’ve had a customer email me to tell me she wanted to order a game card but it was sold out. It is an easy fix for me to transfer it to a paper type that is not sold out but for a customer many of them do not realize that is an option.
I’m not sure if this is the same issue or not, but I’m having a similar problem with wedding programs designed on either 5.5x8.5 or 8.5x11 inch paper sheets. From the marketplace or backend you can access the product page just fine, but if you click on the link from the collection, the collection pod, or the collection backend it appends the paper type to the url as follows: “?media=textsatin” and you get an error page telling you that the product is no longer available:
This is happening with all of my programs that were designed on paper sheets and were defaulted to the satin paper type. Paper sheet products that are set to default to semi-gloss work just fine.
For the program referenced above, I tried setting the paper type to matte and restricting it to “this size and paper type only” to see if it would help, but it didn’t make any difference. That could be because the change hasn’t propagated yet though, so here’s a link to another one which I did not change: We Do! Blush Pink Rose Modern Wedding Program | Zazzle
I’ll check back with the peach colored one in a day or two and see if changing that setting fixed the problem or not - I’ll report back.
@Cat don’t forget that collections save the product type when it’s added to a collection.
You may have to remove them and then re-add them to get your wedding programs to save properly to your collection with the correct product type that is available (it doesn’t auto change in a collection as far as I can see)
Don’t know if this is related but when I go to any of my budget invites, no paper choice is given for the 4.5x5.6 size, the size I created it for. When I click on the other sizes, I see paper choices. I’m hoping someone can still order this size at this point.
Hi Sara, It helped, thank you! I deleted and readded the products and the paper type updated. But it is not an option, I have hundreds of them. I hope the technical team will sort it out.
Yeah… it looks like semi-gloss is the only option for the 4.5x5.6 size now… which is interesting since that’s really more of a cardstock than “paper” - If you go to the blank product it’s the only option. I had all of my budget invites restricted to that size & paper only, so it’s fine as far as I’m concerned - but it looks like for the other sizes they’re down to either matte or semi-gloss - all of the other options have disappeared. Not sure what it means.
I prefer that semi-gloss paper as well since it’s the only weight that would work for invites. I hate it when customers change it to something else – & that usually ends up going pink. I probably should restrict that paper choice on my products.
My results are about 50/50. The stuff I did last night seems to have stuck, but the stuff I re-added this morning is still throwing the error. I’m hoping this means that it just needs time to re-index? Maybe? Fingers crossed…
Has anyone heard more news about this issue with the reduced paper options for 8.5x11 inch papers. I had many wedding programs that used this size paper, and I am not happy about the reduction in paper choices. I used to always recommend the Linen and Recycled papers, but those are now gone??
Thanks for sharing the link @Cat ! That is good to know. It is frustrating, but at least I am aware of it now. A lot of people are not going to be pleased with the quality of the paper for wedding programs unfortunately.
