Doesn’t seem fair to ding us with a transaction fee when the default is well over 15% as is… What it the max percentage without incurring the fee??

yes, unfortunately.
14.9% is the maximum royalty we can set before the carveout kicks in.

Just like when you use a royalty over 14.9% on a paper invitation, when you use a royalty over 92.89% for digital flat cards they will take carve out $.
I’m a little late to the party here - I was searching for answers on why our digital downloads are being included in promotional sales (i.e. 50% off) because we’re barely making anything after the sale price and 3rd party fee etc… then came across this post… but I digress… I just wanted to add that we are, in fact, being charged the carve out fee if our royalty is set at the default 92.89%. If you go to the instant download royalty for any of your flat cards and set it at the default, it will show you the charge as a “transaction fee”, currently .56 cents.

I think the transaction fee, whether physical or digital, may be meant as a deterrent to setting royalties that are unreasonable, thus helping keep prices somewhat uniform. It makes sense.
