Can Self Referrals be Earned promoting on Direct-Only Products?

Can self referrals be earned promoting direct-only products (either by themselves, or when they are featured in a publicly-visible collection?)

I just tested this by setting one of my cards to DO.  I bookmarked the link I created with my rfid.  I then logged out, cleared cookies and came back via the bookmarked link.  The link loaded properly with my rfid attached.  I then bought the card.  Checking my earnings, they increased by 2.  In my Royalty History the sale shows as self.  I earned the referral income from the purchase as well with “yes” (customized) showing under my product.  I did not test out the public collection part, but if it shows in the collection, it should be fine.

So Direct Only products will earn a self referral.

Hi PC,

Can you explain how to set a product to Direct Only? I tried and can’t figure it out. Thanks, Suzanne

From backend - under product Actions > Edit Details > Additional Info > toggle on Direct Only > …

So if I make a product DO, will people be able to find it on Zazzle Marketplace OR JUST IF I PIN IT ON PINTEREST (and other social media?) and does it always result in a self referral that we get paid for?

It will not be visible in the Z MP.  It will only be visible to people that follow a link that you create and put out in Internet Land.  It is still possible to not earn a referral from someone who comes in on a DO link.  This is because a Z cookie (rfid #) can’t be overridden by another for its first 7 days.  If someone clicked on another designers link and picked up a Z cookie (rfid#) and then came to Z in the next 7 days on your link, they would earn the referral.  Likewise, if you are the first to set the cookie, you get 7 days where it can not be overridden.
