I want to understand what is the Marketing Royalty Fee and why its 45% , from my understanding of the Ambassador program shouldn’t it be around 15% , also not to be deducted from my royalty earnings?! and also that rate 45-50% should be if i affiliate for my own products?!!. does that mean if i refer others products i would get 45% from their royalty earnings instead of 15%? I believe that was not the case a year ago or is it something new?
I hope someone explain it to me clearly as i cant figure out whats that for and its eating almost half of my royalty.
There are a LOT of posts in the forums about these changes Z made awhile back. “Marketing Fees” range from 35% on some products to 50% on others. There is also an “Excess Royalty Fee” now if you set your royalty amount over 10%. Before these changes I used to have a good many sales that showed “none” as the referrer. Since the changes I have had a single one, not even one! I’ve also only had one “self-referral” which from what I can tell is how designers have a chance to make a fairer profit.
I’ve set my royalty rate to 18.5%, but given almost every sale is typically categorized as ‘3rd party’, I actually make 10% per sale. And this is before a further 5% tax on payout. 😑
What has happened to Zazzle? I’m not even making 10% commissions on sales I have set over 20%? Also, when my referral link is used when I order, I’m still being charged a referral fee to buy my own products, from my own referral link, from my own creations in my store? What in the world is happening? Why would Zazzle take my little bit of referral money on my own products? Also, of great concern, many items I created with my own art, photography or ideas are not even reported as sales in my store and no commissions given to me. Who is getting paid my commissions and getting my sales credit for my products, art and photography if I’m not getting it? When my sales dropped drastically I ran a couple test orders and was shocked this was happening. Example: a friend uses my referral link to buy one of my products. I referred them They buy one of my hat designs. I advertise that you can customize for free. They keep my art, my hat designs and choose their color preferences and add to cart. Not only do I not get the referral for the product, I also get no sale credit or commissions on my referred sale and my art designs? How do we know how often this is happening? I can only guess a lot since it has happened on several test orders that were made through my link. Also on the few sales that were reported in my reports, the referral fee was taken out of my commissions, but not listed in my referral commissions? Who gets my commissions I’m being charged for referral purchases made from my own link? This is all very hard to understand. We have 10 stores on Zazzle and have taken a huge pay cut and have a strange drastic drop in sales on my top products, which very well may be the reasons I mentioned. Why are we not being paid on every sale procured when a customer purchases from our own links, designs/referrals/art. So many questions. Was hoping this was all technology glitches that will be remedied and reinstated?
Wow, not getting a sales credit or royalty when someone purchased your product is disconcerting. I do understand that referrals can be tricky because of so many cookie variables, but I would expect all sales to be credited. I wonder if this is a one-time glitch that Zazzle can straighten out or if this is occurring more frequently? Thanks for sharing your experience.
