We used to be able to do it at the top level and category levels.
If this ability is already there and I just missed it, if you could point me to it, I’d be grateful.
Thanks.

@Zorinda I don’t think the forum software has the option to “mark all posts as read” (been doing a bit of research on Discourse)
You can change your preferences/tracking to mute tags/categories or use the bell to stop following posts in categories that you’ve previously read.
edited to add - I mute the show me threads (preferences/tracking - scroll down to Muted - press the plus then scroll down the categories untill you find the one you want to mute and it won’t appear in your Topics
That would be wonderful. I miss that function the most. This new format is so overwhelming. There are several categories, I just have no interest in and they get so many posts, that it is just impossible to have them not show up in the feed. I would ignore the forums entirely, but you have to check once a day just to make sure there isn’t an April Fool’s Day surprise to deal with - or a new design tool. You just never know these days.
Muted. You got me at Muted. I have to learn how to do this. Thank you!
Muting is a pretty extreme option although I’d consider using it for the “Show Me” threads. In other forum categories it’s not so simple. There may be a bunch of new topics posted where I might be interested in only select ones. Do I mute everything I’m not currently interested in? Probably not. That’s not only inconvenient, but might prevent me from seeing something that might become relevant in the future. The “Mark all posts as read” option we used to have was the solution. I want it back.
So, this is what I saw when I came to this thread; it was at the top. And, you’ll notice that the “New” is underlined. Before this, it showed me a number. So, it’s gathering the newests threads that I have not read yet. I’m wondering if this is a new way to sort these threads automatically for you? I honestly just gravitated to using it the longer I stayed on here. This is my first post, in using it today, so I’m pretty clueless.
There is a “Dismiss New” button that appears when there is actually something new to you. But it’s not the same as “Mark All as Read” which I too used to use all the time.
With the changeover to this new forum, every old post I’d already read or marked as such in the previous forum is Bolded again. ![]()
The only way I’ve found to un-bold them so things that are actually new stand out is to mindlessly click through the old threads one by one.
Exactly. It’s cumbersome.
Thank you for figuring out the forum is the Discourse platform. That lets us ask Google for help figuring things out. ![]()
