Can't Change Main Image on Published Items via Android Smartphone anymore

Hi, not sure what is going on with this new product view change of tap/click.  But I can NO longer edit to change a main product image view via my Android Samsung Galaxy  Smartphone, like I used to do via desktop mode for my published items up until recently.

Do not like the new:  __“Tap / click on image to see more RealViewsTM” below", that I’ve been seeing under my store’s product images via my smartphone recently, and there are no longer any thumbnails shown by the main product images via my smartphone to view.  And I can no longer change the main product image to be a different thumbnail image in my store via my smartphone, like I’ve always done before this new change.  😞   

I feel it was much better the way it was before with the thumbnail views of the product visible right there next to the main product image, and you were able to click on a different thumbnail view of the item to see it larger, if you wanted to!

NOTE:  I used to be able to change my Main Product Image view to display the image I wanted to change it to (from the thumbnails listed, per product) at any given time via Edit Details, Product Merchandise, Change Options via my Samsung Galaxy Smartphone in Desktop Mode.  But recently with this new tap/click change, I can no longer change to a different main image from the thumbnails shown, per product (to be my new main image) on an already published item, because now when I click on Edit Details, etc…  .the new wording comes up “Tap / click on image to see more RealViewsTM” below", and I cannot click on or select any of the scroll-down images now listed via Change Options affecting my smartphone.

It doesn’t matter whether my smartphone is on mobile or desktop mode I can no longer change the main product image view.  I’ve done this many times in the past with my Zazzle store (and up until recently before this new change) from any of the Samsung Galaxy Smartphones I’ve owned over the years.  It’s a pain now with this new change to have to pull out a laptop or go on my PC just to change a main product image view to a different view from the thumbnails I wish to change it to (I use Zazzle’s In-situ images that are available, as I like them).  I’ve done mostly everything from my Samsung Galaxy Smartphones over the years… Making my own Original Digital Artwork, etc. and publishing my products, and changing the product image views from the various thumbnails listed per item, when I want to change it up a bit for the larger main image view, via my Samsung Galaxy Smartphone’s Desktop Mode. It was always a breeze before this new change.

Also, as a customer I’d rather see the main product image, along with the various smaller thumbnail In-situ images right by it to see different views of it at a glance (with the ability to click on a particular thumbnail, if wishing to see it larger), just like it was before this new change.  I wouldn’t tap or click in order to pull up more images of an item listed for sale.  It would be a turn-off.  Not into scrolling images whether up and down, or from left or right from any site!  

Please let me know if this is a glitch or something, as nothing has changed via my smartphone.  And I wanted to change some main product image views for my designs from the thumbnail views posted by product type, like I was able to do before via my Samsung Galaxy Smartphones with my S Pen at any time over the years on the fly : )

As I mentioned in the other thread - if you enlarge the view on your device (my laptop works, I don’t have a phone). Then the “old” way of choosing product image returns.

Have you changed the view size for some reason? I had changed from desktop to laptop. However, I work with my desktop monitor and everything seemed “the same” . I guess it wasn’t. I don’t know how a phone would react.

Hm. Looks like the preview thumbnails are omitted from the page if it’s too narrow (<1020px wide). We periodically run AB tests, and update the product page based on the results of the aforementioned tests. It’s possible that we’ve learned that our customers respond better when select page elements are a certain size.

I’ll pass this information on to the team, but for now I’d suggest using a computer to update this sort of information.

Ok.  I’ll use my computer for now to edit them, but hope it can go back to how it used to appear when I was able to see the thumbnails by the main image, and use change options to select different image thumbnails via my smartphone in desktop mode.  Been using my Samsung S22 Ultra past year, and any of their other phones always with S Pen that I’ve had over the years works nicely doing artwork and any Zazzle stuff whenever and wherever I am!   So use it majority of time  :slightly_smiling_face:  Thanks for your help and looking into it.   Appreciate it.

Thank you for trying to help.  I did see your other post too.  For me I can still see the image thumbnails on the side of main product image on my little Samsung laptop or PC same as normally can, and without having to enlarge the view.

But for some reason something happened with the latest tap/click and this no longer appears on my Galaxy phone.

Glad you were able to get some info on why there was/might have been a change to your view.

I have tried to just look at Zazzle on someone else’s phone and found it totally unusable - then I don’t like the cell phones anyway so …

Ha! Ha!  :slightly_smiling_face:  Yes, I’ve been using my Smartphones only by them for years and great for artwork and other things too that you wouldn’t think of with S Pen phone types I only get!  I can use my new laptop too by Samsung for artwork but guess I got so used to my nifty phones and S Pens over the years with my software so just always use my phone with pretty much ease for painting so that’s good!  I don’t set aside any times to do any of that and just go on the fly when something comes into my head!  Even for typing a description edit or changing a main image my phone is handy wherever I am and feel like doing it, so hope the thumbnails come back viewable on my Samsung phone like it was before so I can make changes quickly again wherever!  But yes, I agree with you and doing things on a phone may not be for everyone.  And you need to stretch out the screen a bit if in Zazzle’s edit mode on the phone (even with my big phones I always get) because the fields on the left are so small to click on like templates you make or whatever..  I still have to use my PC or laptop at times for some things in my designs to combine other aspects or typed text too…for whatever I’m doing.  But other then that or reading some things on it I’m no longer big into all technology like I once was, as just seems too much at times everywhere you go, so need to give my old eyes and head a break from it all!  :slightly_smiling_face:  But I still love doodling and painting on it whenever I get the feeling or think of something, and I wish that digital art part of it was around years ago when I was younger, as all my life it’s been what I’ve been drawn to in different forms,…  I’ll keep that part of technology to enjoy!

Did you ever get any closure to this question. I am not able to change the view of my product. I go to my store, my products, Edit Details, Product Merchandise, Change Options and nothing. I mean I can change the view of the item, but but the change is not reflected on the product page. I have tried spinning the thumbnail and it will move but still goes back to the view of product I am trying to change

No, unfortunately since I posted this new problem “wow” way back in 5/2023 the same issue still  exists via my Samsung smartphone!  I just now tried going through all of those steps again to get to Change Options to try and change the View image on several different types of items via my store, but still cannot.  So after all this time still can only change the realview images to the view I’d prefer to display on product pages only via my Samsung tablet, or a PC.  It is quite annoying and inconvenient not to be able to change the image views via my phone anymore!  All the years before the problem started (or something was changed with a Zazzle upgrade back then) I used to always select the image view per product that I liked, via my Samsung phone without any problems.  Don’t understand why that capability was never brought back.

Can a mod please help with this technical issue?  A long time has gone by without it ever being fixed.
