Collections Q - “Cross-Sell” vs. “Similar Style/Theme”

I can get my collection covers to display on product pages when setting the “Collection Type” to “Cross-Sell”, but not to “Similar Style/Theme”. My collection does not qualify for the “cross-sell” but does for “similar”. Is there a way to get the “similar” to function the same way?
