Has this happened to anyone else? I’ve been selling images online for 25 years. Whenever a violation was detected the image was removed before being posted. It’s always been like that. 1 month ago I posted some vintage postcards featuring the 24 Hours of Le Mans racing event from the 1960s. Someone purchased 2 of these postcards and AFTER the purchase the postcards were flagged stating “Zazzle is not licensed to sell or produce unauthorized merchandise of Le Mans, https://www.lemans.org/en”. In 25 years I have never seen this before! That buyer will never come back to my store and possibly never come back to Zazzle. I understand if it’s a copyright violation but why wasn’t it flagged when I uploaded it?
There are currently 2,800 products for sale on Zazzle using the Le Mans racing event theme. I won’t post what the Content Management Team told me since I don’t want to get banned from Zazzle. I’m not here for the money (referrals killed that idea haha) so it’s just for fun but c’mon, I feel like I’ve been singled out since I don’t have a PRO decal next to my username (most of the 2800 Le Mans products are from Pro members). Zazzle don’t check what you’re uploading, but they certainly do catch them when they’ve been ordered or if they’ve been reported. What you had removed is a trademark and can’t be used except by the owner.
Just because there are others in the marketplace doesn’t mean it’s ok, they will be removed and they won’t be allowed to be sold (unless it’s an official store, there are many on here) . But no, it has nothing to do with pro level.
Thanks for the reply. I’m sure you have a good reputation here and have to be careful what you say. I’ve been selling images (not products) on Stock Art sites for 25 years and if there’s any flaws or questions about copyright or licensing those images are deleted immediately before being posted for sale. I thought the idea here was to KEEP buyers coming back. Would you come back if they said “hey we’re sorry but we’re canceling your purchase because we don’t have a license to sell it” ? I’m not discounting what you said it’s just wrong how they manage violations here.
You have to agree when you post each product that you have the legal right to do so.
Yes, sometimes people do post things by accident, not realising someone has trademarked a saying or something like that, but Le Mans is a well known trademark.
