I want to crop just the top of an image but the new design tool doesn’t seem to provide that option. I checked the “aspect ratio” section but couldn’t find that option there either. When selecting “crop” it provides me with handles but it crops on all 4 sides.
To crop just the top of your image, select the image layer, press Crop icon then go to Effects then choose the Freeform cropping option.
Use just one of the corner handles to drag to your desired area
I tried that. It keeps doing all sides.
Correction: It does 2 sides not all sides.
I can’t get it to crop just one side.
@WBartworks Try removing your image and re-adding - then press crop then press effects then choose freeform and only grab one corner handle
Source me - just tried
@WBartworks Are you clicking on your image within the crop and moving it? That’s how you can move your image so it only crops one side
Yes.
That doesn’t work. I tried it.
Same here
What browser/os are you on?
Works for me (firefox/windows)
You need to click on ONE corner handle (whilst using the freeform crop option in image effects)
Once you press crop - don’t touch anything else - go straight to Effects - make sure Freefrom is selected then grab ONE corner of the crop box so it goes a darker pink. You can then manipulate the shape and crop to your hearts content any which way you like
If you’ve picked any other cropping option or pressed on anything else before you go to Effects- it won’t work
I use chromebook
I just used the crop tool and it works perfectly. I was able to crop the left side without affecting the other sides following @Sara_H 's instructions.
I had to create a version of something for a customer today so unfortunately I finally tried out the new design tool. Cropping works just fine, really the same as before. (Do not like the new version, however, even tho I figured out how to get what I needed to done! Wish we had an option to go back…)
If you had the “Lock Aspect Ratio” turned on in the old tool, there’s no way to turn it off in the new tool, even with the Freeform option. I reported this to Zazzle using the form even before we were forced to use the new tool.
Thank you Connie. That explains it. At one point Zazzle made the “lock aspect ratio” the default because it was apparently confusing customers. I have been searching for the “unlock” for days… It’s nice to know that I can stop wasting my time as it seems there isn’t one! I didn’t use cropping a lot as I make a lot of my designs in PS and just upload them. But sometimes I still need crop something where it will need to have it unlocked. Hopefully they will add it soon.
Aha! So that’s the problem. Thank you, Connie! Hopefully Zazzle fix it it soon!
Thank you, Connie! I wish Zazzle would fix things quicker. I wasted lots of time trying to figure out why it’s not working.
I meant to write: Hopefully Zazzle will fix it soon!
This could be a way you can turn off your “Aspect Ratio”. It’s via the ‘Create Your Own’ design tool: https://www.zazzle.com/create/designtool?dz=bf5637e0-918e-4bda-bde1-629e1a3dd909
Currently, you can still access the original “Settings” dropdown window. It might be worth a try!
Yes, it works. I went to the link and turned it off. Thank you SheaPrints, for sending us the info! BTW: How did you come across this link?
