I was a wedding photographer for many years and the coolest venue I’ve ever shot a wedding at was the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, TN. Another beautiful venue is Rip Van Winkle Gardens in South Louisiana.

I attended a wedding on the “pirate” ship Formidable that went around Boston Harbor. Many of the guests (not me) wore pirate clothes.

I have followed wedding photographer blogs for years and have seen wonderful places, I specifically remember this one: Wayfarers Chapel in Palos Verdes, CA.
Wayfarers is a beautiful place to visit. (I live over the hill - inland). My sister worked there for a short while. My niece was going to get married there, but the pandemic cancelled their plans.
Yes! We were going to visit it in 1978 but we were advised against because of taking our motorhome on the road there.
The Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona would be a wonderful wedding venue for stargazers and hobby astronomers 🌠.

As the Marshall Space Flight Center’s visitor center, the USSRC museum houses a collection of over 1,500 U.S. spaceflight hardware. It includes the first U.S. satellite Explorer I, the full-stack space shuttle Pathfinder, the Apollo 16 Command Module, the Skylab Orbital Workshop, Sierra Nevada’s futuristic Dream Chase, and an Apollo 12 Moon Rock.
Besides the U.S. space exploration artifacts, the USSRC offers exhibits such as the Moon Shot and G-Force astronaut-training simulators and shows at the 67-foot INTUITIVE® Planetarium domed theater. Your wedding guests will have access to all the interactive displays.
<h2>History of the Marshall Space Flight Center<h2>
The Marshall Space Flight Center began in 1945 in Fort Bliss, Texas, to develop rockets. In 1950, Dr. Wernher von Braun moved the Marshall Space Flight Center to its current location in a former WWII pyrotechnical devices manufacturing site. The Marshall Space Flight Center’s employees created early rockets and satellites before creating the Saturn V. Their additional contributions to the space program include the space shuttle propulsion system, International Space Station (ISS) modules, and the future Space Launch System. Dr. von Braun also created the USSRC museum in 1970. Offering more than the museum, the Marshall Space Flight Center is also a monitoring center for the ISS, a research center, and the site of Space Camp®.

For your wedding and reception, the USSRC offers the Apollo Terrace with seating for 100 diners, the Apollo Courtyard with seating for 200, the Main Exhibit area with seating for 250 to 500 guests and access to the interactive displays, and the Saturn Hall with a reception capacity of 1,000, a buffet capacity of 800 to 1,000, and a full-service capacity of 800. The events staff assists with planning and event management, including in-house catering, bakers, florists, and photographers. The USSRC is located at One Tranquility Base in Huntsville.
<h2>Huntsville, Alabama</h2>
Founded in 1805, the economy of Huntsville centered around cotton plantations and cotton mills. However, many cotton mills closed during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Huntsville turned to growing watercress and became the Watercress Capital of the World. After the development of the Marshall Space Flight Center, its nickname became Rocket City.
<h2>Weather and Peak Season</h2>
Although Huntsville becomes hot and muggy from June through August, its peak tourist season encompasses July, October, and August. So, you might want to consider the off-peak month of December for your wedding. The temperature in December in Huntsville ranges from 47° to 57° Fahrenheit, and, on average, you will experience a small amount of precipitation only one to three times in the month.

The Huntsville Botanical Garden, located at 4747 Bob Wallace Avenue and close to the USSRC, features 118 acres and around 19 gardens. The gardens include the Purdy Butterfly House, the Children’s Garden, the Damson Aquatic Garden, the Garden Railway, and the Lewis Birding Trail. On Wednesdays in the summer, the botanical garden offers an evening of live music, food, and drinks. During the holidays, the botanical garden hosts the Galaxy of Light show.
<h3>Twickenham Historic District</h3>
The 13-block Twickenham Historic District features Greek Revival and Federal-style homes built around 1818 by George Steele. Twickenham, named after the ancestral British town of Huntsville’s founder LeRoy Pope, became Huntsville in 1811 because of anti-British sentiment. It is located by Big Spring International Park.
<h3>The Weeden House</h3>
The Weeden House, built in 1819 in Twickenham, includes Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court John McKinley and poet and artist Maria Howard Weeden among its inhabitants. During the Civil War, Union officers occupied the house. Maria Weeden produced her works under the name of Howard Weeden. Her works sold in Paris and Berlin, including portraits of freed African-Americans. The house stands at 300 Gates Avenue.
The Old Town Historic District includes homes from the 1820s to the early 20th century.
Other areas of Huntsville showcase houses and communities built by textile mills in the 1890s for their employees. These communities include Dallas Mill Village, Lowe Mill Village, Lincoln Mill, and Mill Village Historic District.
