Whilst optimising a design I discovered that even though a template has been set up properly for the design the Edit Design option isn’t showing on the published page.
And then I checked a couple of other similar designs and discovered the Edit Design button wasn’t showing on them either, despite setting up the template correctly.
You get 1 hour to edit your message. That’s why you can edit recent messages but not the original one.
I see the Edit Design button on this product just fine, as long as I’m logged in as you. If I’m logged out then the page redirects improperly, which is a different issue that we’re aware of.
Hi Scott - thanks for clearing up my confusion about editing posts. I thought I was going doolally.
As for the link - when I’m signed in there is no edit option on that page. I’ve added a screenshot to show you what I’m seeing when I’m signed in. Most peculiar.
What are you looking to accomplish? I thought you were looking for the Edit Design button (the one in blue), but it looks like that’s showing for you. Are you trying to get into the design tool?
Sorry Scott - getting a bit mixed up over here. That’s an incorrect screenshot - it should be one of what the customers see.
That is even though a template has been set up correctly, there is no edit option for them to ‘Personalize this template’. The button just isn’t there. There are a couple like this.
Hope that’s clearer.
I’ve clicked on both links. I get to the product page on both. The problem is that I see no “personalize this template area”. When I go inside the design with the design tool the “more options” on the right had side (where you set up your templates) is not there. When I look at the layers, the text layers does have the text over it that indicates templated text. Could you have possibly clicked both options in “more options” by mistake? The first one is to lock the layer down–it can’t be changed or moved. I’m not sure, but maybe if you check the first one it will override the second one?
Diana - thanks for your insights. You are seeing exactly the same as me, that is NO “personalize this template” button (which is why this conversation started)
Here is a screenshot of how the template is set up. I have no idea why this is happening. I’m sure that @Scott can shed some light on it.
I just realized that this is a design that you are “optimizing”. There is a whole thread on this subject somewhere else on this forum. It has something to do with the new feature that allows you to change an old design without losing its current market place stats (such as no. of views). It is some kind of bug or glitch–they’re working on it.
@DIANA - now you’ve confused me a little. I’m not sure that I was optimising it (I might have been..) in the sense of actually changing the design. I just happen to notice that there wasn’t a Personalize this Template option. We’ll see what Scott has to say. Thanks for your input.
Thanks @Scott . there were a couple of other designs behaving like this. Do you need the URL of them also?
And was it you that made the design hidden in my store? I can only think it was because when I went in yesterday it was hidden and I didn’t hide it. Thanks for your help.
