I work on collections seperate from adding products. However I occasionally add them when I make it. Today I went to do that and it said my product was already in that collection along with every other one. Why? What is the point of collections if every product defaults to every collection regardless of subject? I don’t need cat pillows in my reading hobby collection for example.
This is a bug that happens when you to collection from the publishing page. It isn’t actually added. This is just a display bug. Instead of adding from the publishing page (which doesn’t work because of this bug) go back to what you were doing before: adding to collection from the back end or the product page.
Oddly enough, if you choose “remove from collection” on the collection popup in the post product screen, it seems to add it to that collection. It’s like the display is inverted or something. I still prefer to add it from the backend though, because that way it retains your chosen view in the collection instead of reverting to the default.
That’s an interesting tidbit. I didn’t know that Remove would be Add. This inverted display bug is off-putting enough that I just do it from the backend routinely too.
Thank you Cat! That was making me nuts!
