Feedback for New product: Area Rugs

Hi Creators,

Please let us know what you think of the new Area Rugs we’ve added to the marketplace. 😄

I think it would be helpful if the maker indicated how to clean these rugs in their product description. Most buyers would expect that info before purchasing an item that will be walked on, spilled on, soiled, etc. Can that be included?

Maybe move the kids room preview to the indoor rugs?

The overhead in-situ photos feel weird. They don’t do this fabulous new product any justice. I would consider switching those photos out. Keep the photos grounded, since the focus is on floor decor.

I don’t like the product photos. It shows too much of the room and not enough focus on the rugs.

I know this is a new work-in-progress still but it seems like the bottom preview image, the one showing the upturned corner of the rug, is rather off and it doesn’t matter which size rug you choose.

This is a test rug I made to orient myself to the preview positionings.  It’s the largest 12 x 9 size as that makes the “offness” most obvious.

 And here’s the bottom upturned corner preview

Maybe my eyes just aren’t understanding the perspective but it seems like we shouldn’t be seeing as much as 9 feet of the design here.

Here’s the same rug with a random rectangular image added to the center.

 And here’s the upturned corner view of that

The image now looks smushed up and square shaped. It’s like the design area is being condensed to show more of it behind the upturned corner when we should just be seeing close-up whatever is in that corner in proportionate detail, like with wrapping paper rolls and puzzles.

Here’s the live test product where you can toggle the image on/off.

Second note - if you click thru to Area Rugs from the Home Page – New Products, or search for them, the Size filter is in inches while the product pages shows sizes in feet.

That’s unnecessary math for the customer. I feel like the average US customer is thinking “I want a 2x3 rug for my kitchen” or “I need a 8x10 rug for my living room” … Having to think in inches is well, difficult. Maybe the filter options could be changed to feet to match the product pages.

@PenguinPower

Just wondering where you see a kids room preview. All of the previews I see are for a living room.

Thanks,

Change the type of rug to outdoor and you’ll see a different set of previews, including a patio, a kid’s room, a wedding and a party.

Love the rugs! But could we please have a “This style only” publishing option? Obviously, not all designs will work well on all shapes (round, rectangle, etc).

@PenguinPower

Thank you for explaining that for me. :blush::blush::blush:

@northwestphotos

With such a wide range of sizes and shapes, there’s not really much point in designing until they make “This style only” an option. :disappointed_face:

Thank you for pointing that out, I hadn’t got to the point of posting it for sale yet.  :blush:

Can someone tell me if I’m seeing this correctly? It looks like the rug has been somehow hung on a curtain:

None of my current images fit and I can’t seem to find a product guide file anywhere. Is there one?

Lol…it’s supposed to be a top view looking down … see sofa on the left. It definitely kind of hard to figure out at first glance.

The bird’s eye view previews of the living rooms would look more realistic if they were rotated so that the rugs are at the bottom of the view. This orientation would anchor the rugs better and not be quite so “disturbing” to some with the perception of the rugs hanging/floating. Just an idea and maybe a quick fix.

The ‘Design Placement’ radio buttons have incorrect text, both options say Vertical

The second one is the horizontal one

It’s a light-colored wood floor?! It looked for all the world like a tinted sheer curtain to me! LOL

Perhaps better in situ photos are in order.

Well, I wanted to design for the largest 12 x 9 rugs so they would scale down from there but have found that even my largest images on file are much too small even when tiled. Understood since 12 feet x 9 feet is a huge canvas. Even the king-sized duvet covers are smaller at just approx 7.5 x 8.5. I’m finding in the MP lots of rugs published at smaller sizes and when you choose a larger size you get the yellow too-small error. Makes it essential for this product to have the option to lock it to just ‘this size only’. Also, for rugs that have image templates, what are the odds customers will have a large enough version of their image on hand that they don’t get the yellow error flag when replacing the placeholder image with their own? I’m really excited about these rugs but it’s going to take lots of days off from my real-life job to work up new images/designs that are large enough to use here. I think .svg’s are the way to go here but yeah, that’s going to take time. :downcast_face_with_sweat:

Love these but for sure we need a ‘this style/size only’ option. Also it’s hard to tell what size your design gets changed to when you add it to the rug, unless you go into the ‘tiling’ option and click on ‘basic’ - then you see the tile size in inches. But for instance, I have a 10"/ 300 dpi design and it got plonked onto the rug at 30", not sure it would really look good scaled up that much, even though it didn’t get a yellow ! warning.

At first glance I thought it was hanging on a wall instead of on the ground.
