The product manager shows all your products. This is great but can get unwieldy. It’s great that you can use the bar on the left to filter by custom category or Zazzle department. I’d love to be able to filter by collection though. Maybe just a drop-down list on the left right above your custom categories. Ideally it would combine with whichever department or category you’ve chosen. Thanks!
This is an interesting idea. I’ve thought many times that it would be great if we could get back-end functionality added to collections. This is sort of the same idea, but it goes at it from a different direction.
I’m guessing that the issue here is that while most of us designers use collections to group related items, they’re also used by affiliates - and can include products by numerous designers. So the owner of the collection is not necessarily the designer of the products. Not sure if that presents a technical problem for either getting us back-end stats when viewing a collection or, as you suggest, filtering by them in the back-end - since they’d have to only show us items that we created.
But if it’s technically possible, it would be a HUGE help!
Indeed it would. As a software engineer I think I know why this is not yet available. One reason is that it’s a little more tricky and slower in database performance when you want to match on one (product) to many (collections) than one (product) to one (category) data relationships. Not a big deal. Just a speed bump in development.
The bigger reason is likely more mundane. They have a lot of work to do. They probably just haven’t gotten around to it. I think I’ve seen that collections are a newer feature in a few places. The ways it is employed seems more limited for now. Maybe us noodling about it aloud will give them a little more incentive, knowing it’s desired.
Hi @JimCarnicelli ,
Thanks for sharing this idea with us. I’ll take note of this for our team so we’ll take a look.
