I tried to add text to an item and the new big box comes up covering the entire design. I have to choose and close the box and if it is not a good font I have to open it and close it and open again and close again. By the time I find something to compare I forget what it looks like under this annoying box. Please put the font options back as they where. At least for designers that use it a lot. Perhaps you can add an option to turn it off.

Here’s what I’m seeing. The font panel just seems huge compared to everything else on the screen.
It doesn’t cover the entire design, but enough to be a real distraction. If I didn’t have a wide screen monitor I think I’d be driven completely nuts by it all. I can close the layers panel to get more room, but I’m finding that with all of these new sections I’m in a perpetual state of opening and closing panels to be able to see my actual design. It would be SUPER helpful if we could control the width of the various panels and save those settings as the default so that we could create a layout that works for our particular device/screen setup.

I’m also having an issue with the font panel taking up a large section of the design area. It’s only slightly better when I collapse the layers panel. I think it would also be more helpful to have the option to see “All” fonts before “Popular” in the top panel. Putting it last requires a lot of side scrolling.
I do, however, like the new “Fonts in this Design” feature.

Yes, this is a real problem! I spend a LOT of time choosing fonts, trying out a ton of different options, and it’s a pain to have to deal with such a big box covering part of the design.

Thanks for asking. The new font box is almost impossible to use. I can’t even see my design while using the font box, and I don’t see an easy way to browse all fonts without scrolling way to the right each and every time. I’m puzzled why this isn’t the default, or at least among the first choices.
This wonkngly huge font box seems like a forced error for a feature that once functioned reasonably well. I’m sure there was a reason the dev team wanted to change it, and the fonts in this design is a nice addition, but I hope they’ll consider some quick fixes or rolling it back until they fix the sizing. The team needs to test this feature on a wide variety of devices, monitors, and video resolutions.
As you can see in the attached screenshot, I’m trying to format the font on the spine of a binder, and I can’t even see my design without collapsing the left panel. The user experience is incredibly frustrating. I wish you could let us adjust the sizing of the panels and more easily see the full list of fonts. Thanks.

yes, this is how the new font layout appears on my screen as well. In the design process I also spend a lot time trying out fonts for an “exact look and feel” I desire and the font option box intrudes over the design so I can’t look at the result clearly without closing it. You could at least allow us to resize it (push it smaller). I also hate the scrolling category list. A drop down list was sooo much easier to look over, pick a category especially with a mouse pointer. I don’t remember the names of fonts, so I really can’t put a font by name in the search. I simply don’t remember their names. The lateral scrolling of font categories (like Serif, etc ) is now so much more time consuming then a simple drop down. And, even if I find the Serif category on the scroll list, then try one out on my design, if I decide I don’t like that font look, I am forced to spend the time scrolling over the categories again to return to the Serif category or whatever and it takes up valuable time because the font options DO NOT RETURN TO THE CATEGORY AND SPOT WHERE I WAS. Really, it never has, even as a drop down menu, but if we are going to “improve” the font ting, let’s make the font option list REMEMBER WHERE I LAST LEFT OFF, so I don’t have to start over all the time from get-go. Making me have to close the font options to see my design, then repeatedly find my way back to the font list I want to choose from is wasting my valuable time. This font improvement does not respect my time as a designer.
Other Zazzlers have mentioned more precise beta testing more so before rolling out. Maybe something more specific like as the massive multiplayer star wars game I play. I realize this is apples and oranges, but the game has masses of complex algorithms to manage to make it work and so does Zazzle, so game, a number of years ago, invited players to volunteer as beta tests to play new updates and give the developers immediate direct feedback to fine-tune and correct player experience issues. That way they do catch and fix the BIG stuff that isn’t working properly or interferes with player-game interaction functionally. (This font option coming out now interferes with designer and design tool functionality definitely.) I believe Zazzle could benefit from limited group of volunteer beta testers (like 50 to 100 from pro to platinum level), testing things that effect designers in the design tools, store organization, collections, etc with a direct feedback for just developers to read, so like in this case, they could have told you the font option box intrudes over the design in the design area. That is so obviously a faux pas, I can’t believe it was missed.
I’d be willing to sign up for Zazzle volunteer beta testing like that.

Maybe because I work on a laptop, the text font is not sticking out that far for me, unless the old format is still in my account.

I’m thinking it’s probably an A/B test, so not everybody is seeing it. This looks like the old layout to me (which I vastly prefer!)

That appearance can be system effected should be noted by the Zazzle techs, perhaps depending on type of computer.. I use a desktop with a 32 INCH Monitor Screen. It’s a huge visual. Most people in this complaint say the font option box DOES overlap. And it certainly overlaps my design in the design tool on my 32 inch sceen.. Now if Zazzle tech’s just checked the workability of their new font option box performance on a laptap, maybe they didn’t see a problem and didn’t see any overlap on their laptop. so decided it was good to go. But clearly this is not true on every PC system and that’s a fail. In the other feed on this discussion, a pad user said the font option box was a problem for them, too. A pad user!

The arrival of the new font option box badly effected the upload preview of things already uploaded I scroll thru for stuff to appear blank for a long time before finding loading. Loading super slow. Every new thing Z does makes everything else already working go wonky. Everytime.
I agree. that would be better then the constant scolling (because I have to close the window to check the font look on my design for each font I try.)
I suggest giving designers an option of the slide out or drop down menu for the fonts, so we can choose.

Yes, an ability to control width on that font option box would be a modest help. I use a Windows desktop PC with 32 inch monitor. ( I say this because someone using a laptop said they didn’t have this overlap issue. They didn’t say whether it was a Mac or Windows laptop)

Please bring back the font panel list the way it was before this latest change! It was much better before, and we could click to have favorites and was easier on the eyes, and took up less screen space. Guess someone was working to try and streamline it a bit, but now everything with the new fonts list this week since the change is all over the place. Much prefer the old way.
