Thanks for this information, it’s so helpful. I downloaded the MainType free version and it makes it so much easier and quicker, than Character Map, to see the font private use area.

BabelMap (free utility) is also available for Windows users https://www.babelstone.co.uk/Software/BabelMap.html

for Mac users, you need to turn on Character Viewer (instructions in the link below)

I use MainType, it’s the best font manager I’ve found. I bought the paid version because I have so many fonts, and it was reasonably priced. The only drawback is that it actually installs the fonts when you activate them, which can bog down the computer if you have too many installed at once. Some of the font managers activate them without actually installing them.
