So, designing on a foil 5 x 7 Invitations DID turn horizontal, BUT now the text overlay is not appearing over the foil when typed into the “Front” Layer, but is stuck behind it.. I tried all sorts of refreshing and closing the design tool and reopening, but to no avail.
Attached are two photos: one showing problem in design tool so you can see I put text in the Front Layer (circled in red) and another of it in product view stuck behind the foil. (teal color text for visibility.)
That was happening to me, too, yesterday. You can manually grab the foil layer and drag it to the top.
@BevStuff Your text needs to be on the Front Foil Layer if you want your text to be gold- it then auto copies over to the other as black.
The foil layer covers all the other layers as it takes priority and that’s by design. I don’t think you can have plain text overlaying the foil
If you want your text not foiled - just move it out of the way of the foil frame

What @Sara_H said. The foil layer is always on top. If you want it to look like something is on top of the foil layer, you need to place a duplicate of the object on the foil layer and make it white. That will tell it not to print foil there. Check out this design to see what I mean. I agree with @Cat . This is what I do. On the foil layer, choosing black means it will add the foil, choosing white means it will not. For your design, copy the blue Save the Date text from your front layer. Click on the foil layer and click paste. Click on the text you just pasted and the tools will show on the right hand side. Click the white color, and it will tell the design tool to not print the foil layer there which will allow your design from layer one to look like it is on top of the foil.

Maybe I’m asking it to do something it’s not designed to do. The foil stands above whatever is added to FRONT. I’ll have to rethink this, since my original idea clearly will not work out. Never mind.
