Hi everyone My name is Michael and I’ve just recently launched my store, MYKOOL, based out of Glastonbury, England. this is my first ever online store, it’s been open for a couple of day’s now, and I have no sales as yet. The theme and feel of my products are set for Mother’s day, and was just wondering if I’ve gone a bit to old fashioned with my designs, looking at all the modern designs with photo’s of family’s, they all look amazing. and possibly entered the market to late as well. I wrote a poem for my wife back in March 2023 with 10 verse’s and have put each verse on a product, Mug, cushion, tote bag and a greeting card with a floral pattern as a background. I think I just need other creators eye’s to give me their thoughts and advise, please.
I do have a zRank of 4 and a 100% completion on my store, not bad for a computer dinosaur. Hope you can help and best wishes to all the Zazzle community out there.
ps. is it also best to have a picture of yourself in the “logo”?
Here are my initial thoughts, Michael. You are using the same floral pattern and colors on every product. If that pattern and those colors don’t appeal to a particular buyer, then nothing in your shop will compel them to buy: not a tote bag, a mug, or a shirt. And because you are also using the same font and font layout on each product (even if the verse is different), everything in your shop looks like a duplicate product.
You have a unique shop idea, so create a suite of unique products that will appeal to more than one ideal buyer. Try different patterns (not just florals), different colors (not just pastels), different fonts, and different design styles (modern, traditional, minimalist, whimsical, geometric, maximalist, bohemian, cottage style, etc.).
And, yes, add a photo on your profile.

Adding on to what @Jadendreamer13 said which are all good tips, I did notice that the greeting cards (which honestly are the Mother’s Day products most likely to sell from my experience) are all set to show the interior of the card as the first image instead of the more eye-catching front of the card, so you might want to change that.

Thank you for your honesty , Jaden. I was just trying to make it easy for myself to open the shop, but looking back now, and having new eye’s scanning the products, helps me move forward. i will take your advise and try the things you said. I would like to think I could sell the items all year round as well, especially if I swap designs and fonts like you said. much appreciated. and many thanks.

Thank you alissag, I was hoping the verse’s would catch the eye of the buyer, and for got the important piece, “Happy Mother’s Day” so what I might do is change a few of them, showing the front.
thanks again, much appreciated.
Search the Zazzle marketplace for “inspirational” pillows, greeting cards, mugs, etc. The top sellers will appear at the top of the list. Then make a list of what style designs, patterns, colors, fonts, etc. the top selling products have in common. Then using that list, modify your products (or create new products) to incorporate some of the features that your research uncovered.
