It’s around 30 degrees Celsius today here in NL, 
Makes it hard to concentrate, haha. Luckily temperature will drop to around 24 in the next days. What are your experience and tips working in the summer heat?
I can’t translate Celsius to Fahrenheit, but I gather it must be hot. If the world decides to mean, then you’re allowed to not work and to be stubborn and grouchy instead.

It’s 30 Celsius here in the UK too. Too hot to work, so I’m have a VERY lazy day. I’m expecting thunderstorms soon.

Hmmm… I’m thinking that “heat” is a relative term! 30C (86F) would be a normal June temperature here in Denver - and I’m kinda chuckling that you think that’s “hot” because I don’t think of the weather as “hot” until we’re in the mid-upper 90s (above 35C). Anyhow, here in Denver it’s currently 59F (15C) and pouring rain! I’m wearing a jacket inside because I refuse to turn on the heat in mid-June - just on principle!

I totally agree! Except in reality I still (try to do some) work, so just working and grouchy.
I would welcome some rain now here, hopefully the thunderstorms won’t be that bad at your side.
Indeed it’s very subjective depending on country, we’re not used to temperatures above 30C. Also no airco doesn’t help. Oh well, will be fine. Some hot sun for a few days isn’t that bad.
I heard about that, did you stay inside? It was caused by fires somewhere else right?
I think you all must be polar bears! IMHO 30C is just about a perfect temperature - nice and warm but not too hot! Of course, the climate is very dry here, so perhaps it feels different in a more humid area. Anyhow, I’m mostly just whining, because it was a long cold winter here, and I’m REALLY ready for summer, but it still feels like April. Sigh.
But here are a few tips for dealing with the heat.
- If it’s warmer outside than inside, keep your windows closed and the blinds drawn. You can run a fan indoors to circulate the air, but you want to keep the sunshine & hot air out and keep the cool air in. Once the outside temperature drops below the inside temp, open all the windows and get as much air into the house as possible. If it’s safe to do so, keep your windows open all night to fill the house with cool air, and then try to conserve the cold air the next day.
- Try to avoid running any heat-generating appliances during the daytime, as you’ll just end up putting more heat into the house.
- Take cool showers or baths rather than hot. Eat cold meals, not hot. Drink beverages with ice - no hot tea!
- If you’re desperate, you can wear a wet t-shirt, or even just put a wet scarf around your neck - it will cool your body temperature quickly.

Yes, I stayed inside. The city was smelling like wood smoke.
The smoke came from the Quebec area in Canada.
Thanks for the tips! I actually heard drinking hot tea was recommended in hot days, but.. that doesn’t really make sense. We do have a lot of 
stoked, that helps.

The NYS capital region foggy was with smoke for several days, but my stubborn husband traipsed about outdoors for a number of hours. The next day, he stayed inside, hacking, coughing, and thoroughly repentant. I appreciate Canadian air dipping south in the summer, but this time, I didn’t.
Still waiting for Summer weather to make an appearance here. Still Cool (about mid 60s F) been having sprinkles and actual rain off and on at least one day a week. Quite unusual for Southern California. I am extremely glad that the weather has remained cooler. I belong back in Northern California where the weather was more accomodating (when 80+ the weather was dry where I lived, much more comfortable than where I worked, which was by the SF Bay)
I’ll take 45-60 over 80-100 any day!
@almdrs Smoke is not enjoyable in any temperature. I have endured both in Northern and Southern California. NYs recent episode seems even more extreme!

We deal with such hot temps here in Texas (US) that your temps sound great! We got to 98 with pretty high humidity yesterday, but we are currently sitting at about 84 which is close to your temps today and practically cool weather for us. If we are lucky we won’t go 3 months without rain in triple degree weather this year! Air conditioning is a way of life in most of Texas, but even with it, when it gets too hot it is a struggle to stay cool and I do get very grouchy! I try to keep an iced drink by me and a fan on me at all times when I am home and computer work suits me just fine on those really hot days, but I tend not to get much Zazzle work done in the summer because we are fairly busy and I have been working extra outside on getting our property cleared and looking good since it has been “cool”. lol
Do you guys have access to by small window(aircon) units in NL? Those are pretty affordable here and actually what we have instead of a central unit.
Ps, my sweet niece is currently living in NL and going to college. It was a big dream of hers to live in your beautiful country!

in Metro Vancouver, BC, we had a few days late last month where temps were in excess of 25 C. that’s already far too warm for me … I prefer temps of 16 C. fortunately, where I was staying was in (a new condo tower), and I had access to built-in A/C and a fitness centre 5 floors down (also A/C cooled, of course).
when I don’t have access to A/C, regular hydration; eating cool, cold, or frozen food (ice cream, yogurt, smoothies – oh yes, we have a plethora of fresh homegrown fruits to go through now); and staying in the coolest part of the house is important. I can’t get much work done on my Zazzle stores if it’s too humid; I get sleepy very quickly (this, ironically, from someone who was born in the tropics).

I’m also in Texas and it’s gonna be in the triple digits here this weekend. The weather said 100 and next week about 101. With the heat index, it will feel much hotter than 100.

I’ve been looking at portable airco units, it’s a good temp solution indeed. Air conditioners are rare here, never needed them and they’re a bit noisy, however I spot them more often in the last years. I don’t think I could ever adjust to hot climates but for a vacation I wouldn’t mind 
.
That’s a big change from Texas to NL, am sure she’ll enjoy it here it’s a relaxed country with lot’s of nature. A bit flat and small compared to Texas. Hope to visit US some day with the fam.
