I often have customers ask for minor changes in the design. I always tell them to click Personalize, then edit fonts, colors, delete unwanted elements, etc.
Now I have a customer who told me she can’t see any of these options, just the fill-in form of template fields. I didn’t really understand why she couldn’t find these options, so I checked with a logged-out browser. After clicking Personalize, there’s a “Moment” tab - which fortunately can be skipped - but the next page is just a dumb editor, only text fields that are templates, without all the fun stuff. There’s not even a button to switch to the Advanced editor, or a settings button… anything. Even the Share button is missing.
What the heck should she click to get to the Advanced editor, where she could edit some details like layout and colors? Or how could I do it for her without posting a new product with a tiny edit?
Sometimes, even on my own products when signed-in, when I click to Personalize/Edit, the designer tool opens to a “Quick Edit” view with nothing showing except the template fields to edit. For full design editing capabilities you have to click on the “Design Editor” option.
I’m finding that the “Quick Edit” window only appears for specific products, such as gift bags and items with complex layer arrangements (front, back, and background). I guess that’s to make it easier for the customer, but perhaps the “Design Editor” button needs to be more noticeable.
I wonder how customers manage with the “Moments” window. I wish the “Skip to next step” link was more noticeable in both its appearance and positioning. I hope customers aren’t frustrated if information they provide isn’t included in their chosen design. Similarly, for specialty business cards and similar items, there are often data fields that don’t appear in the “Moments” window. This could be particularly confusing if those specific details were the reason the customer chose that design. ![]()
I’m wondering if this is due to it being a Letterpress Card. I just checked an example while logged out, and the “Design Editor” button isn’t there. Could this be because of design restrictions for these cards? I don’t have access to them myself yet, but I recall reading that they involve a design-approval process. Perhaps this is why customers can’t access the full design tool.
I have not seen a “Moments” window yet. I have no idea what that looks like. I was thinking the same thing about the “Skip to next step” being more visible.
I think you are right. They have very specific requirements on spacing and layers, so I imagine they have locked them from customers.
Thanks! That’s a letterpress card, so that must be the reason.
Not happy.
all letterpress cards – at least last year - had to be approved because of the spacing requirements. So you would have to make the changes for them and perhaps they would still need to be approved after that. I’m not sure we have been informed as to what the process is now.
