Other than looking at whether or not a product shows up in the “Newest” search, are there any other ways to tell if a product has been indexed?

Me too! I keep seeing posts by people complaining that their stuff hasn’t been indexed, but I don’t know how they know it hasn’t!
There’s probably a better way, but I do know if I switch to the public storefront for my store and do a quick search for a product that is newly created I will get a “no results” message and won’t see the item if it hasn’t been indexed yet.

I don’t think there’s a better way - you’ve got it exactly… If the product appears in your “public storefront” it’s been indexed.
I do believe that some folks may be mistaking indexing, which certainly can be and often is a bit behind, but not for months… for appearing in a search in the public marketplace, which is never guaranteed, especially if it’s an already crowded keyword/set of keywords.

What I do is go to my Zazzle store without signing in. I just click on ‘Product’ and then select ‘Newest.’ This will show which items have been indexed and which have not. Sometimes, it takes over a week for a new product to appear.

No I have items that appear in my store but don’t appear on the general Zazzle search. All the way back from 7/31. And the items I have are definitely not crowded keywords. And there are a lot of them since 7/31. My stuff always appears in the marketplace so I’m not sure what’s going on now.

If you search for the exact title of the product, it should appear. If it doesn’t, it’s not indexed (yet). Looking for “newest” does not help if your product was created say several weeks ago or longer.

I’m currently creating very niche designs, and it’s difficult to maintain enthusiasm when they show up in my own store (eventually) and seem to take forever in the marketplace. Long ago and far away, I was able to sort the lists by Newest, and my products would show up in 24 hours or less. Then it was 48 hours. And now? Has anyone been able to figure out how long it is so I can stop looking until the time is right?
Barbara - my last “index” was created 8/27, Next newest item not yet indexed is 8/31.
So … it looks like at least 5 days plus for updates.
Thank you! Now I can rest easy, knowing that what I created yesterday won’t show up before this coming Sunday or Monday…or maybe later.
