I’ve been notified that it may take a bit of time for changes to take effect. This seems to affect newly opened accounts.

As with all cache-related bugs, we’ll need to keep an eye on this to ensure that the problem is actually fixed. If you find that this issue persists you’re welcome to remove my response as the “accepted solution”

I logged out and checked again and it now shows no status at all. I also checked that against a couple of other profiles to make sure that is how it is supposed to be, and it appears to be the case. You were right, Scott, so the Accepted Solution stays put! BTW, when I am logged in I am the only one to see my online status. I absolutely love the settings feature. Especially the privacy bit.
