Is there a way to preserve a gradient applied to an SVG image?

I get that we can upload SVG images with elements of different colors, but is there a way to preserve a gradient applied to an SVG image in Adobe Illustrator when uploaded to Zazzle? When I have tried this it just makes the SVG all one solid color. In order to get the gradient I applied to show up I have had to convert to png, which I really don’t want to do.

If there is a way, I haven’t found it. Try saving it as a pdf instead.

As far as I know transparencies don’t work with svgs in the designer, to retain the transparency you need to convert it to png

Thanks @Cat  - that seems to keep the image sharper than .png. Not sure why but I don’t tend to work with pdf files much. I also didn’t try uploading the original .ai file - will try that too.

Thanks @waterart  - the gradient I applied was at 100% opacity - just a color gradient - but will keep that in mind when using opacity gradients.

I don’t know what you mean by opacity gradients, you need to use solid color if you want to upload svg files to zazzle. As for PDF I’m not sure if it supports transparency, for example if you want the Designer’s background color to show through your gradient. But I know you can do that with PNG as long as you use a transparent background in your PNG and not white.
