When using the Glass Antiqua font, the design tool appears to be employing a discretionary ligature where there shouldn’t be one. When typing the letters “CH” or “ch,” it appears as one connected character. Adjusting the letter spacing doesn’t affect it at all – the CH remains as a single character.
Here’s an example – I made the character spacing really wide just to show the issue:
Pretty sure that’s a “feature” of the font. Cinzel Decorative does something similar with “he” and “oo” - it smooshes them together. Does it in all different programs, not just the Zazzle design tool.
Yes, ligatures are part of the font, but without a way to turn them off, it renders this font nearly unusable.
Very interesting. So you’re saying that the program is automatically replacing the two letters with a different special character? That is interesting and would make sense. I don’t have Glass Antigua on my home system, but I do have Cinzel Decorative so I tested it out in various programs. GIMP automatically combines the letters but MS Word does not - so it sounds like you are correct. Would be REALLY nice to find some way of controlling that feature.
