ETA: This doesn’t affect the marketplace searching when I search wine label or favor box, but it is totally messed up on back end. I end up creating duplicates of products I think do not exist because they don’t appear in a search.
There have been a couple of threads in recent months with people reporting finding items have shifted categories - mostly into various wedding departments - and they shift back no matter how many times they reset to their other chosen category. There’s a theory there’s an algorithm working in the background that’s re-classifying things based on keywords. I don’t recall any reason being provided by a Mod for why this happens but I think that could be true. Both of your items include “company” in the titles and company, corporate, business, clients in the tags. So Office & School > Promotional Products & Small Business Supplies > Displays & Packaging
does seem more accurate than Crafts & Party Supplies -> Party Supplies -> Packaging -> Favor Boxesor Home & Living -> Kitchen & Dining -> Storage & Carriers -> Food & Drink Labels -> Wine & Sparkling Wine Labels
It’s notable that being shifted into Office & School means that if a Self-Promo referral, you’ll earn more on the sale, but as a 3rd Party sale you’ll earn less (and Zazzle will earn more if they are the 3rdP) because of the higher % class.
I think it’s intentional and not a glitch and the Mods tasked with monitoring the forum maybe don’t have all the information about it yet.
I have this issue too with golf tees! I have ones for business and I listed them as “sports - golf accessories and golf gear” and they keep finding their way back to bachelor party supplies. I KNOW I have changed them back at least twice.
They are postcards that happen to have images of memorial monuments and so include the word memorial in the titles, descriptions, and tags. Is there a work around or fix for the system changing their department from posts to Sympathy Cards?
