Introducing photo Grids to your Elements options. Now making designs with multiple photos is easier than ever!!
To use the feature…
Go on the design tool and navigate to Elements > Grids.
You should be able to see 285 unique Grid elements to select and add to your design
The grid presets are arranged by number of photos in the grid, so finding one for your needs is easy (up to 16 photos!)
Using it in your design…
To add your own photo, you can drag an image on the canvas directly on to the frame in the grid, OR select the individual frame by double clicking, and click “Add Photo”
To adjust a single photo in the grid once you have added it, quadruple click the image (you can also double click and select “adjust photo” from the options on the right.) and you can resize and adjust positioning.
You can adjust the Corner Radius to your liking
For creators…
Grids supports image templates, simply select each frame individually (by double-clicking it) and set them as templates
Let us know how you plan to use these in your designs, below!
Looks encouraging and helpful. But, so far, I have not found a way to edit a photo (such as cropping) if it does not fit the grid the way I want it to. Auto fit decided the cropping for me. And it isn’t always the way I want it. There does not seem to be a way to access the photo once it’s on the grid so that it can be adjusted. Am I missing something, or is it necessary to crop a photo beforehand so that the dimensions are very similar to what they will be in the grid?
Hi @LloydCain-1957 , if you double-click the image you wish to adjust in the frame, and double-click again, it will allow you to enter the adjust mode. Alternatively, double click to select one of the images, and click "Adjust image on the right side options. Example below.
I have added this to the above post also. Thanks for your question.
Thank you for the grids. Canva has had this for a while and it’s wonderful. However, I’m having trouble with placement. If I want to move an image to a different cell within a grid, it doesn’t appear that I can drag and drop. I have to keep hitting “undo” until the photo is not in a cell. This is really time consuming when designing a large poster with a lot of photos.
Hopefully I am missing something that’s just not obvious to me because I really want to design with these!!
I just noticed that on larger designs you can not use it. As it seems to me that this would depend on the quality and size of the images used. Is there a solution for this? Thanks!
