The black and white filtered version of images for wax seals are cool. Is it ok transfer them to other products besides wax seals? Is it considered just another filter, like what’'s already offered in the image edit menu, or is it weird, or an extra hoop for the production dept to jump through. Hope I’m being clear. Thanks.
@pencilcat if you tried to transfer them to another product - only those that accept specifically black and white will appear eg foil anything (cards/favor tags) /rubber stamps /wax seals/ wax seal stickers/window cling/floor decals as it is a special printing process those items go through and require just a black and white graphic.
So, no mugs, coasters, tiles, etc.? I already did some just to see, they look good, but that’s why I asked because I wasn’t sure. Still not completely clear . . .
I don’t see why not. It’s just a black and white version of your design, right? I haven’t done any wax seals so I don’t know exactly what you get, but I can’t imagine it would be any different than if you used the other filters available in the design tool. Just my opinion.
I’ll try to post a screenshot of what I’m talking about. Maybe it’ll help someone else who’s wondering the same thing. I started with a knitting drawing design. Then the wax seal filter turned it black and white and it works great as a seal. Then I transferred that to a mug, selected the “remove white in background” filter just to see what that would do, and it did a cool thing I didn’t expect - kind of reversed it again, so I chose a gray background and it made a new image.
Here goes - if this doesn’t work right apologies in advance.

I just tried a transfer of the wax seal design to a postcard and it automatically turned it into the FOIL print.

Here’s another step-by-step of what I’m doing, but with a simpler image than what I showed before. Again, I’m just sharing in case it might help anyone. (If Zazzle wants to officially tell me it’s ok to do this - or not - that would be great. If I don’t hear anything I’m just gonna go for it and make 10,000 more products (only half kidding). grin
The original file is a simple blue lines knitting pattern, on a white background. I opened up the wax seal maker design thing, and selected that original file. It automatically made it into the second image, the burned out black lines on white. Then I selected the “inverted” filter to get the white on black. THEN, I hand selected the file from the layers on the left side, and cut and pasted that onto a coaster. * I didn’t make the seal. just cut and pasted the altered file. * Then, when in the coaster design space, I went into the “options” on the right side and selected “Remove all white in image”. That gave me that weird all white, “empty linework” one. Then I just added a red background. And voila, a whole new design. The only hinkey thing is, for whatever reason, when you enlarge it, there are still some eensy wee tiny random black specs, floating in the open spaces, and also some “hugging” the linework. So only darker background colors really work, which kind of hide that. Or if the design is kept to a smaller scale its ok too. If it’s enlarged too much you can really see it.
