I’m in the dog niche, creating unique cockapoo art and products (mugs, t-shirts etc.), and trying to grow it through organic social media. At the moment I don’t have much of a follower base, and I’m finding Instagram reach especially very low — pretty much no visibility at all, despite trying different types of content. Feels like I’m missing something when it comes to getting traction and turning that into sales. Art seems to be especially difficult so would be great to hear how everyone does manage it.
Would really appreciate hearing what’s working for others
@Cockapoosociety It’s so hard and it seems to get even harder as time goes on. I’m in my third year on Zazzle now. I’m also a lousy promoter (mostly because I have seen so little reward coming back from Social Media, it’s just simply frustrating to me). In my first year with Zazzle I promoted the heck out of it on Social Media with seeing little or no reward coming back. I used what I had used in my previous business were I had a large following (breaking the K limits easily) and back then Instagram was my strongest tool in fact but that has shifted and especially Instagram doesn’t work for me anymore nowadays. Part of it is definitely because you can’t post active links anymore on that platform and people do not wanted to be bothered to copy and paste into a browser’s status bar your link just to see your product (in pretty much all cases - it’s just to much effort to ask from them), sigh.
So I admit online promotion is not my forte. But what has worked for me is the old fashioned business card which I hand out in real life and which has brought me the most business in the last two and a half years here on Zazzle.
Again I’m just a tiny fish in the big sea of Zazzle creators but I will get my Bronze badge within weeks (knocking wood here) and in April 2026 I have earned $67.91 so far which of course doesn’t pay the rent (or even cover my subscriptions I need to do Zazzle) but my little store is still trending upwards meaning beating the months of previous years) so I have do have hope that I will get a bit more traction down the road.
