I am trying to tidy things up a bit. Some products have just been left in the main category, is there a way I can filter to only see products that I have not put in a sub category?

When you say “main category” what do you mean? There is a “New Products” category that is created when you make a new store.
You would have do some some digging around your categories and move them over manually to your new ones

I have divided it up a little thinking it might make things easier, but they are all a bit of a mess. So I was going to work at tidying things up. I am not sure though if people actually look and browse the categories at all?..
