Personalization templates for customer out of order

I posted a birthday invitation for sale. The layers are in the correct order and the URL parameter names are in alpha numerical order but the personalization templates the customer sees are out of order. Is anybody else experiencing this problem? Does anybody know how I can fix it please?

Yes, I’ve seen that too – I don’t think we can fix that – it is probably a coding change.

Best I can figure, in this new interface it’s ignoring the URL Parameter in terms of field order, and instead it shows the fields in order from top to bottom. BUT (big but here) it does NOT seem to order them correctly from left to right. So, if you have a design that has multiple fields at the same height in the design, those fields end up in random order. I’ve been reporting it for months, but it doesn’t seem to be on their radar. It’s a fairly major flaw IMHO especially since they’ve removed the field labels. For most designs I think customers can figure it out, but for other things (seating charts and save the dates with calendars where the customer needs to enter the numbers themselves) it makes the design pretty much unusable.

Yes, we do show the templates in order from top to bottom

And this morning I was informed that we fixed the left to right issue, too. I believe this was something that you originally reported to us, Cat, Here’s the example that we were looking at: https://www.zazzle.com/emerald_green_floral_elegant_boho_wedding_calendar_save_the_date-256138442318460154

It looks like this has been fixed! Some of my designs with their fields out of order in the “Edit” window, are now correct.

Ahhhh… Yes! Looks like it has indeed been fixed. Thank you!

@Scott  I’m wondering if there’s any possibility that we could have the option of setting the design to either follow the default ordering like it’s doing now, or to have it follow the URL Parameter. While the default setting works great for most designs, if you have a design that has content in two separate columns, you get some pretty wacky and difficult to follow results as the order jumps back and forth from one column to the other.

Here’s an example: Gold Leaves on Burgundy Photo & Calendar Wedding Save The Date | Zazzle

I’ve had another look now and unfortunately if I look at the product as if I’m a customer on a laptop it’s still showing incorrect (but on a mobile it shows correct).

This is an example of one of the items this is happening with:

https://www.zazzle.com/modern_elegant_cream_40th_birthday_party_invitation-256389896354535464

The 40 appears before the name if on a laptop but after the name if on a mobile.

This is happening on a few of my invitations too… the issue is that the number 40 is in a large font size, so the top of the text box for the number is actually higher than the top of text box for the name.

Text Box Boundary for “40”   Text Box Boundary for Name

They really need to give us the option to have the fields ordered by URL Parameter for situations like these.

On mobile so too hard to quote it but check out this recent post by James, sounds like they’re getting this issue sorted so hopefully using the URL parameters to order as we want them will soon work again.

Thank you:blush: I did wonder if this may have been the issue but found it strange that on a mobile the personalization boxes are in the right order for the customer but not if they use a laptop. I too hope that they give us the option to have the fields ordered by URL Parameter.

I thought this had been fixed a little while ago 😕. Templated objects are not in the correct order in the “Edit” window. Instead of following the URL parameter for field order, they’re arranged based on their visual position in the design, from top to bottom.

yes, same for me

Hi @Scott  , the templated text still isn’t displaying in the correct order within the “Edit” window. This is especially problematic for ‘column layout designs’ with numerous text fields. It used to follow the URL parameter for field order, instead of the visual position in the design from top to bottom. Are there plans to change this? Any update you can share would be really appreciated. 🙏

Yes I have the same issue… With the new design tool it is harder to check too. But doubled checked it all and still completely wrong order!  I do hope this issue gets fixed as it super confusing when you have a lot of custom text fields. I am also designing and looking at it on my laptop.

As currently designed, it’s intended to order the fields as they appear in the design from top-to-bottom, and left-to-right. I don’t know what the plans are from here, unfortunately.

@Scott   Thanks for the update :folded_hands:. Hopefully, in the future, it will follow the URL parameter for field order again!

@Scott  Do you have any update for this?
Thank you.

Please change it back to the URL parameter. It’s easier for the customer to personalize the text and easier for the designer to check template text.

For example,
With this design, personalizing section 1 (day and time) and then going to section 2 (address and rsvp) is easier than personalizing from top-to-bottom, left-to-right (kinda messy)
