Yes, please make the PhotoPop design feature available for the designers/artists who have made Zazzle successful. It does not seem right that only Zazzle Studios can use this feature in competition to independent designers. Competition is certainly agreeable. Just give us the same opportunity you provide for yourself. Please.
This looks interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjUzSTVQFAM&t=301s
and it’s called: Creating Pop Out Effects -
Hey @LloydCain-1957 ,
I’ll be sure to pass your feedback on to the team.
What I think is quite unfair for designers is that they promote their own photo pop products on the home page prior to the designers one.
The three first items below are Zazzle photopop products:
if you click on graduation on the top of the page you have this page and the top are once again Zazzle photopop products:
if you click on Father’s Day Favorites on the home page, you also have this result, and once again the first results are Zazzle photo pop products:
So, whatever their effort , designers will never succeed at ranking their products first anymore, because the first places are apparently reserved to Zazzle product !
Yep, Fantabuloustef, you are correct. And this isn’t right. Is Zazzle trying to take over everything and bypass the designer/artists that have made Zazzle so successful? Leet’s hope not. Maybe more of us should be letting Zazzle know about our dissatisfaction. Thanks for your comments and illustrations.
@LloydCain-1957 and anyone who’s interested, I’ve created an easy step by step process to create these right now. It’s not too hard, and it’s all in the layering, and removing background, etc. Click this forum thread to find out how:
Zazzle has launched a new feature that links products to a PhotoPop account without making it clear that the account is affiliated with Zazzle. For creators, that can be frustrating. I would honestly be willing to work as an ambassador and live from the referral income, but even reselling these products is hard because they are difficult to link properly. It almost feels like the beginning of the end for designers. Even though our work may be copied, many of us have already offered a broad range of services to make these releases possible.
I don’t have any issue with the feature itself. Of coure, we can reproduce the style and did it before, some of us before zazzle did. Most of us have also figured out how to use it without much explanation. Still, I can’t find a good way to deal with Zazzle’s own “shop-in-shop” style for the PhotoPop products. My linking workflow was much easier when I could link the PhotoPop shop directly. Now I first have to search for the products in collections, and only then can I add related ones to my own collection. It would feel more fair if I could use these products in a way that also allowed me to earn ambassador credit. But when you are expected to compete without real competition, it becomes frustrating.
On the other hand, I would also like to know how to exclude products from such offers or apps from my shop, especially if they are being surfaced or prioritized without my five cents about them.
You could link to the results for the ZazzleStudio store, filtered to just their official PhotoPop designs.

And you can find many of them in their own Collections you could link to, like this one:

If into promoting, it’s not a bad idea to be promoting these with your RF.
Their first product in the list is a flat announcement card at the minimum 5% royalty.
If someone ordered 25 cards at the current 30% off, you as the referrer would earn $7.35 (15% of total sale).
If instead you did all the work to make your own PhotoPop-type card and set it to 10% royalty, and someone ordered 25 cards at the current 30% off, and it came in as a 3rd Party sale as most sales these days tend to, you’d only earn $2.59 (5% of total sale).
Of course, if you were successful in landing the self-promotion referral credit on your own card, you’d earn quite a bit more, $25.90 (50% of total sale).
Since it’s been difficult the last year or so to land either type referral credit with so much coming in as 3rd Party now, it’s a gamble either way. One would have to decide which gamble best suits their time & talents:
Possibly earn a reasonable return for just doing the promoting on Z’s products, or put in all the time & effort to do both the designing, the cover photos, the building it out into a Collection … and the promoting in hopes of getting the much larger payout on an item of your own which also has to compete with Z’s cheaper product at the low 5% royalty.
They say time is money and in a scenario like this I think promoting Z’s products might be the better bet when you compare time spent to potential payout.
That’s the point!
Listing a new design means creating the images, uploading them, setting up all the mockups, headlines and titles – and then sitting there waiting and waiting until Z finally lets you manage it the way you actually want it to look… and then you wait some more. Meanwhile, these products are scattered across every corner of the site, and no matter how you try to promote your work, every view seems to show a completely different set of products. 5% could be 5 more than nothing.
