I have a very bright pink invitation labeled as ‘white’… I assume because of the fonts and art? But the entire background is pink. I also have another version that has a black background, white fonts and gold glitter (but overall black) and it’s labeled as ‘taupe’. And another that calls it ‘Dusty Rose/Dusty Rose’ despite it being mostly black with pink fonts and art.

What’s kind of astonishing about this boneheaded new ‘feature’ is that it probably went through at least a layer or two approvals at Zazzle. :flushed_face:

Beyond the issues with the feature, I’m dismayed that Zazzle – or whatever dysfuncional algorithm Zazzle is using – would label a single color tone as flesh. What are they thinking?

I also noticed that purple is often autodescribed as indigo, which is a rare and potentially confusing term. Some people think of it as more blue versus purple. It also messes up SEO, unless the designer intended on that color specifically, since customers would be more likely to search for purple than indigo.

This is something that needs to be stopped, it is just bad marketing to use color names that gives negative associations. Do you really think customers look for the color puke or flesh?
If the color function actually is a serious addition it should NOT be automated by some AI, it needs to be done by a human staff who actually knows something about colors AND marketing.

Sometimes deciding what to call a certain color can be tricky, so maybe the AI could suggest color names that will not be applied until a human approves or replaces them.

Oh no it’s called something that is yellow gold “peach” on one of their own Z filter types … A bright item is saying it’s pale… a green dot items says its cream… “Puce” showing brown dot for a pastel pink item???

I didn’t know this was happening. It’s no wonder there are so many cancellations…
It’s not the end of the world, it’s just another day with a zBug, but I can see buyers just leaving due to the waste of their time.

Pricing games… now color games, all these things make it harder for the customer to buy.

Even when it’s the right basic color in the color wheel, it’s wrong. I just now looked at a poster designed with a light blue plaid background. It’s being called Dark Blue. The customers won’t know whether to believe their own eyes.
Unless the designer chooses the color name, it will continue to be deeply flawed. Personally, I think the whole idea should be eliminated. Fine, maybe, for bedspreads and curtains that are sanely described at a home goods site, but it doesn’t belong here.

I agree. The color dots showing the color choices should be adequate WITHOUT giving them a name! Lets just let the colors indicated stand alone!

I don’t think they can do that alone because they need to follow some accessibility laws. To help people who are legally blind, eye issues, color blind and fully blind who might be purchasing gifts and such. People who have sites read to them by machines. Kind of like how most building require ramps by law (I’m in the US). Then there is monitor and display issues with color.
Currently this auto doesn’t help accessibility either, if it calls a brown or pink dot something else even and it gets read to someone as wrong 
Edit to add: Also people with reading impairment, anyone who needs a machine help get information.
