Sorry for the confusing title, I wasn’t sure how to explain this. In some of my collections, all of the products are getting the little yellow exclamation point telling me that this collection is not set to be the preferred collection for that particular product. The thing is, none of these products are in any other collections!
Do I have to go through each product in every collection and tell it that I want that collection to be “preferred” even when it’s not in any other collections?
Mysteriously, there are some collections where this isn’t happening. I’m honestly not sure if this is a technical problem or if I just don’t understand.
@Cat Are your collections marked as cross sell for the ones that aren’t working including the right settings or event/occasion? They don’t appear in the new format (i.e fancy collection pod) you may need to redo and make new (that’s what I had to do with collections that wouldn’t play nice)
Hmmm… Well, they’re all set to be cross sell wedding collections. But I tried an experiment, I took one of the ones that wasn’t working right, set to “other” instead of cross sell. Then I went back and set it to cross sell again. It cogitated for a bit and when it came back to life the problem seems to be fixed! So perhaps that’s the best work around?
OK, I did a few more experiments and it seems like the ones that had the exclamation point problem also weren’t showing the collection pod on the product pages. I guess I thought they just hadn’t rolled out the collection pod thingy on all of them yet, but I’m gonna give it a day or so to see if indexing the newly “fixed” collections makes the collection pod appear or not. If not, I guess I’ll try remaking a few and see if that works. Thanks for the tip!
I was thinking about this very thing earlier today @Cat and debated posting a thread…so you saved me the trouble..lol.
If products are going to default to ‘unpreferred’ like this, then we at least need a way to select all the products in a collection and change them all at once.
An alternative would be having everything default to ‘preferred’ and then we only need to change the odd item that doesn’t fit that designation. nahhh … on second thought, even then we still need a way to select more than one at a time.
Just an update. Products in the collections that I “reset” have indeed started to show the collection pod beneath them on the product page, so that does indeed appear to be the fix.
How long do you have to wait to see if this fix works? I’m having this same problem, and I sincerely DON’T want to have to click each product individually to change it to preferred collection. But I also don’t want them sitting in limbo for weeks, either.
The yellow exclamation point problem was fixed almost immediately. Took a day or so before the collection pod showed up for products in those collections.
Hi Cat. The same thing is happening to me in some collections. I tried changing my invites to “preferred,” but once the page refreshes, it goes back to saying it’s in another collection.
I’m thinking something may have changed on Zazzle’s end because I was chatting with someone in a different thread and it didn’t work for her either. Sigh.
@Scott These are my collections that are messed up, no matter how many times I change the products to Preferred, they revert right back to not preferred:
@Scott I am also having this issue in this new collection: I have set and reset the items, even tried deleting the collection and starting over, and some items are still telling me they are not in their preferred collection. Very frustrating. All of these items are new and they are not in any other collection.
I’ve passed along the collections above to engineering. Can you hold off on modifying these for a few days so that we can review? If you need to change something please let me know.
