this can be the reason why we have so little refferals while promoting like crazy.
I decided to try using only refferal links now, as I dont think it is common behaviour for customers to buy directly without clicking on any other products.
Is there a way to still easily find the cross referral link urls even though you are opted into the ambassador program? All of my share buttons now just show the standard (ambassador) url
Well, I have done a small experiment. I pinned using my ambassador ID to get a lower percentage and also directly with the Z button to get a higher percentage. The one with my ambassador ID is manual obviously, and what I have observed is that at least the manual pins get a few views more quickly, while the others barely get 2 or 3.
I would need to test one without my ambassador ID manually for the experiment to be complete, and I may do it with a specific product, doing exactly the same process. I usually know that repinning to other boards is a good practice, and I suspect it works better if they are not your own but shared with other creators, although I do not have data on that. I am not trying to conduct an exhaustive study, just to understand what might bring some visibility.
On the other hand, I believe getting the referral is not going to be possible anymore in any way, for example due to the new cookie tracking systems. I also think Pinterest wants its share, and whatever you use probably includes some tracking as well. At least gaining visibility is something, even though it is a bit discouraging, and I suppose we will end up getting used to our sales coming mostly from third parties. At this point, what I really want is to have sales, although of course I would prefer they are not just a few cents, but I also prefer earning less than earning nothing.
I’m late to this conversation, but wanted to share - If you have the Z Earnings app (an actual app on the iphone), you can sort of keep track of when you lose a referral to a “clean” link. It will show up as 0.00 sale. That means someone clicked your clean link but purchased another item (and I believe if you click through you can see what they bought and maybe get an idea of which link of yours they might have clicked through on).
For some context: I post only clean links. I don’t use my ambassador ID. And I very, very rarely get a 0.00 referral. I probably average around 5 self referrals a month.
