How does this happen? This isn’t the first time, it actually happens quite often. It makes me wonder how many products have been viewed without the view being registered, whether it was purchased or not.

That happens to me frequently, too.
I think Views don’t keep up to date- I’ve had some products that needed optimization that I re-viewed, added cover photos, and shared to Pinterest, and they are still showing no views in over 15 months. At least they stayed public though.
