Is it possible to get an archives section with important stickies from the old forums?

I think it would be helpful if we could have access to the old forum posts. Just have them read only. There is a lot of great information in there that I use to search all the time.

We plan to update the old stickies and add them as articles (not stickies) very soon.
The old posts will not be made available moving forward. Too much work. If you have questions for the community you’re welcome to ask them in the appropriate discussion section.

This new format is much more focused on the original post, so there’s only an ability to vote on the original suggestion. Conversation beyond this should be focused on the original suggestion. This is why there is no ability to like other posts in the discussion.
Making all content from the old forums available publicly would require significant resources beyond what we have available at this time.

And…I don’t mind if posts are not in their perfectly correct forum. This would provide the Mod team with the ability to move posts around so that the community can see what this looks like. These next few weeks will be a bit of a learning process for us all.

OK. I’m a little bit confused. Do different the forums work differently? Over on this post we seem to have the ability to thumbs any comment, as well as the ability to reply to specific comments - which I like a lot, makes it much easier to go back and forth and follow the conversation.
I’d like to “thumbs up” Cat’s post about being able to give kudos and comment to any comment within a thread. Subthreads can be very helpful as well. Thanks!
In the old discussion forum we allowed the Feedback & Suggestions forum to be a place where general conversation can happen. We’re shifting directions a little bit here…
- This new site provides us with a variety of new tools, including a new style of board called “ideation.” I’ve described this a bit more in depth in my Intro post here: https://community.zazzle.com/t5/creator-information/a-brief-introduction-to-our-community/ba-p/19
In a nutshell, all “Feedback & Suggestions” discussion forums (aka “boards”) are of this new ideation type, which allow us to collect feedback much more efficiently. The comments section still allows for some conversation to happen, but features and scope are limited. If you would like to have a conversation about something not directly related to the original post then I’d suggest starting a conversation in the General Discussion area.
- The General Zazzle Discussion board is the normal discussion board style, which means it allows a more free-flowing type of discussion, with threaded posts, kudos, and all that. The moderation team will be be reading this board, too, and pulling out information as we find it.
The major difference between the two comes down to how we report feedback. This Feedback section is mainly focused on the original idea, while the General Discussion is a place to have greater conversations where insightful responses may be generated at any time. There is value to both, but they need to be handled differently.
I hope that this clears things up a little bit. I understand that this presents a significant departure from our old ways of doing things, but if we’re going to improve our offering to our Creator community we need to ensure that we can optimize how we collect feedback from everyone. We’ve got a big year ahead - this is only the start.
There was a lot of valuable information buried in those forums, some I looked back on quite often. It will be sad to see this knowledge gone.

If I understood that the old forums and the info therein were going to be completely inaccessible, I would have copy pasted a lot of information into .docs.
While I am finding this new setup confusing, and Z’s ideas about how each section should function a bit confusing as well, I’m sure the muddy water will settle over time. This new set up is not as user friendly as the old, but perhaps that is simply because it is new.
I do look forward to what Z has in store for us, but I have to admit that this new forum is a bit off putting right now… I also understand that keeping both the old and the new is not productive, and that transferring all the old data from the old forum is practically impossible, having limited, read only access to preserve helpful information would be extremely useful, even if only for a week or two.
I hope posting this comment here is OK. I’m not sure that it is “where” it is supposed to go according to the new ideas about where stuff belongs… Apologizes if it is not… just a bit confused…

My guess was that the old forum would become read-only for a set period of time, like a month or two, before going away altogether, to give people time to find & save what they wanted. But just to be safe I copied a couple of posts I had bookmarked. Had I had more real-life time in my sked for searching the old forum for the posts I wanted I would have tried to save more than the 3-4 I did. I’m bummed on losing the info/research on a few things I didn’t think to save at the time, but on the other hand, I really like that we have a clean slate now. No more of threads with super outdated info being brought back up.
In some cases, The Way Back Machine (Web Archive) can pull up old dead web pages. I use it frequently. If you do too, consider making a contribution. It has no ads, just pure info, and goes back to the “prehistoric” days of the WWW. I just tried it and was able to access certain forum pages, certainly not all.
