At my 1920 x 1080 resolution with both Windows system default and browser default set to 100% scale, the text is really, really small and a struggle to read. I have to zoom in on every post page. When I post, I am trying to remember to change the text size from the default of “smallest” to “normal”. I’d go even bigger but setting the default to at least “normal” instead of “smallest” would help reduce eye strain and save time manually zooming everything.

The font size for mine seems quite large and legible but I am using the Opera browser so I am not sure if that would have an effect.

That’s how it appears in Firefox. I tried Opera and the default text is just as small.
I know I could adjust my system settings, or let Firefox remember to leave the forum pages zoomed in to a comfortable level, but since most of my computer use is focused on graphics and website design, I don’t like to have my perception skewed by a zoom level I often forget I’ve applied.
P.S. - in this post I set the text to “Big”.

Having checked your screenshot, the text size looks reasonably legible to me, but maybe I’m missing something?

This is how the text size appears for me, with the outside line length of the rectangle being equal to 9" for scale. It is definitely legible, but it seems more difficult to read everything here in this community format than in the previous forum.

My Windows resolution setting is set to 100%. The recommended setting is 125%, which I always used to use until I realized it was skewing my perception of size & layouts, and sometimes my user-experience. Like in the design tool - I never knew it showed us the name of the font in use on the right panel until I saw it mentioned in the forums. When I changed from 125% to 100% - there it was, I could see it.
I can’t be the only one without the best eyesight anymore so have been wondering why noone else has complained about how tiny the default text is here. It’s definitely not “quite large” or “reasonably legible” to me. It’s occurred to me now that if one’s system settings, resolution or browser, or a combination of them, are leading to a larger presentation, then even my screenshotted text would be seen larger than I see it. I think.
When I changed my Windows setting from the recommended 125% to 100%, everything got very noticeably smaller. I’m often trying to read a news article or blog page and wonder, why on earth did they use such impossibly tiny text?? Since no one else seems to have issue with how small the text it, it must just be me and my settings.
Also side-note - Firefox used to remember my zoom level for each site I visited so I could return weeks later and it would still be zoomed to wherever I left it. That’s not happening anymore so every single time I go to a new topic/post page in the forums, I have to zoom again. Luckily I have a touch-screen laptop so that’s not hard to do.
Anyway, thanks for listening. Since the problem seems to be with just me, maybe I’ll go back to 125% in my Windows settings.
What size laptop are you using?
Sometimes there are multiple display settings - display resolution, text size, display size, etc. Might be worth reviewing them again. But your screenshot looks normal to me.
The default font size is 14pt, which is pretty average. For reference, Microsoft Word defaults to 12pt font.
Windows 10 Home on an Asus laptop with 15.6" screen. One of the 2-in-1 touch-screen models you can fold over to use flat as a tablet. I never use it in tablet mode though.
From the best I could tell by inspecting the page, the default forum font is Proxima Nova Regular at 14pt as you said. I installed that font and used it to write in WordPad at 14pt. Below is a screenshot comparing the text in WordPad to the forums using Firefox.
Regardless of what “size” one is viewing my screenshot at, the proportional difference between the two should be evident. Despite it being on the same system with same settings and same font & pt size used, the forum text is significantly smaller for me. I don’t know what to make of that but I don’t think it’s a browser issue since the forum text appears the same size for me in Opera. (It’s actually even harder to read in Opera for me because the text there has less contrast, like they are using a slightly lighter shade of black there).
And if I may go out on a limb here … inspecting the page shows that the font size is declared in px. That’s a fixed-sized that’s not responsive to screen size. You can see this by dragging your window larger/smaller and while other elements & positioning may change, the text size always stays the same. Using em or %, which are both scalable/responsive instead of fixed, might eliminate the odd cases like mine where the fixed sized text is just too small for conditions.

Follow-up:
The default for the forums is not 14pt (a measurement used for print), its 14px (a measurement used for screen display). 14px converts to 10.5pt. I can’t do half-pts in WordPad but if I change the text size to 10pt instead of 14pt as above, the result is pretty much the same small size as I see in the forums.
If you open a doc in MS Word (where you can do half sizes) and set the text to 10.5 point, you should see approx. the same size text I see in the forums. Small!
Very sorry about the inaccuracy in my previous post. We’re using the standard font size as of now.

One more while I am in analytical mode:
If 14px (which the forums are set to) converts to 10.5pt, then at 125% (the recommended system default), that would be 13.125pt. Below is 10.5pt font compared to 13pt font in Word.
So the issue is me. I’m seeing posts at only 10.5pt (100%) instead of 13 (125%) which is probably the more common setting since its the recommended/default one. But having the forum font set in px instead of a scalable unit probably doesn’t help.
