Hello, I’m in the process of organizing my store and cleaning up some my tags.  Is it more beneficial to leave the product name out of the tags?  For example, I just created a dogs puzzle and wasn’t sure if I should put “dogs puzzle” as a tag or leave out puzzle?  Thanks for any advice.

Don’t use the product name as a tag because Zazzle auto-adds it. For the dog puzzle, leave out puzzle and use dog (and the breed of dog if possible, that’s always a great tag). If there’s anything else going on in the design, use that as a tag too. For instance, this bottle opener:

You could take out the “bottle opener” tag. Keep the “labrador retriever”, dog breeds are great tags. But also tag “rainbow polka dots” and “American flag” since he is rainbow polka dotted and wearing an American flag bandana.

Hi Chris, Don’t waste your tags, 10 is usually allowed, so don’t bother putting dog+puzzle, since Zazzle will not use product names in tags.
Usetags such as, pets, dogs, dog breeds, poodle, etc. So if you include gifts,apparel, tshirts, puzzles, they will not show up in search using those in your tags. Use games as a tag instead of puzzles.

don’t forget to use adjectives as well as tags – e.g. cute, funny, difficult, etc.

You could also use a tag to reflect the expected buyer: “dog lover”.

One more question…for our “collection tags”, should the product also be left out too?  Thanks for any advice.

It’s fine to use the product as a tag in collections. The reason you don’t for individual products is because Zazzle auto-adds it. But Zazzle doesn’t auto-add anything to the collections so if you have a collection that is all one kind of product, you can use that for a tag.
