I just discovered that no personalisation was shown to the customer on one of my items. Checked the design, in the design tool the three text areas are marked as templates. Added the same design for sale again and now the personalisation option can be found.
This is a serious problem - if the customer can not edit the text they will not purchase the product!
And it’s not just notebooks, I found it on other products as well, for example tote bag and laptop sleeves. However, it works on one laptop sleeve but not another… go figure.
I’m very sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue here. It appears the “Make product a template?” option was set to “No” for the original product during the publishing process, which likely led to the error here. We would suggest setting this option to “Yes” going forward.
I can find one of the other products and make a recording of opening it in edit mode if you believe I have tampered with the settings after entering the editor.
Edited to add: I now have a recording of me opening a product, with the settings showing that the template function is on, but I can’t post it here to the forum. Please provide an email and I will send it.
But how can it be - if a text object is not originally posted as a template - when I open the editor I find the template button set to “on”??
What I have circled in red is what I see when I go into the editor of a product that is missing the “personalize this” function in the marketplace. When I go into the editor, the text areas are already set to be templates but the “personalize this” is not showing in the marketplace.
I think they talk about the radio button below ( in the sell window ) that must be set to yes when your post your product . I suppose that if you define a text field as a template in the editor and then, choose to not allow your product to be a template when posting, the field won’t be editable by the customers.
I can relate to this MaggieA, I came here to try to figure this out too. I just did about 7 Valentine’s day cards, all with templates, and I was just editing the design from the original. I remembered seeing that there were four items, one being the G rating for me to check, meaning that I did create some personalizations on each of these cards. And afterwards remembered seeing the Personalize this item at the end. However, it just disappeared. Because I just went to another size card, the 5.25"x5.25", created it, and looked at it to edit and create another one. The “Personalize this item” had vanished. Here’s the link to the 5.25" one: https://www.zazzle.com/you_are_my_heart_valentine_poem_black_cat_holiday_card-256981874904887830
If they can go into this one internally as I did, you can see that they’ve got the templates made for the back of the card.
I have the 7 other cards in direct only mode, but, perhaps they can see them and investigate them too. As those have the templates, and not working either.
@Sara_H , Thank you for checking this. I didn’t think to check it as a public view. But it is weird. This is what I see on my back end on that same link. And, I just looked incognito to see the public view and you’re right! It is showing Personalize this design. I wonder why Zazzle is changing that now.
